Feb/March 2023

Hello again! Welcome to the latest edition of the Beattie Road New. We are in our final week of February, two months into the start of the new year. A huge warm welcome to our new Families that have recently joined us, we certainly hope that you enjoy your time with us.

We are always on the lookout for ways that we can incorporate different Cultural Events into our Daily Program, do you have a special event that you may want to share? A cooking experience, or a Musical Talent, or even just a special part of your Culture! What special days are coming up for you family, please share your experiences with us.

Philosophy

The centre philosophy must be updated every year. We would love your input into this process. If you have any thoughts or ideas you would like to add, please do not hesitate to let me know.

 Session Times & Additional Charges

Upon enrolment all families selected a session time according to their hours of care allocated by Centrelink and these are the hours that your child can attend daily. For example, a 10-hour session is 7.30am to 5.30pm. Drop off to the service should be on or after 7.30am and collection on or before 5.30pm. If you drop off or collect outside these hours, then you will charged additional fees. If you need to adjust your session hours, please see Tracey.

Just a quick reminder about ensuring the following is always up to date in XAP!

Nursery Room

The babies are settling back into nursery after the Christmas and new year break. They have been increasingly active over the past few months, and they have been putting their voices into practice. Picture books and Duplo blocks appear popular, these activities develop social and thinking skills, creativity, improve language by copying sounds, recognising pictures and learning words📚. Babies are always problem solving and using their imagination, getting into home corner cupboards and working out how the doors will close and open if they get inside. As always, the babies continue to use their senses exploring sand, water, leaves and grass and they all have fun doing these activities💦.

As we continue through 2023, please ensure to pack a change of clothing for any water play, and a hat for protection from those sunny days🌞. We would also love your assistance with applying sunscreen to your child before arriving at kindy, and any insect repellent that they may require. We will reapply sunscreen in the afternoon, and any insect repellent if requested.

Harmony day is the 21st March. Could you please dress your child in orange if possible?

If you have any concerns or questions about anything, then please let me know.

Miss Nikki & Mr Rob

"Jingeri" (G'day) from the Toddler Room.

Firstly, I'd like to thank the parents who have returned the "All About Me" forms of your child. Family input is valuable to us and allows us to discover even more about your children and incorporate their interests into our program. If you require another copy of the form to fill out, please let me know.

GOALS: We have remained busy, starting off our year setting individual goals for each child as well as group goals. These goals could be anything from caring for their belongings, toileting, starting to self-soothe at rest time, identifying their healthy snacks (promoting healthy eating) or social skills. We are also continuing our strong focus on language skills- expanding our vocabularies and using words in more settings. This in turn, helps us in other areas such as self-regulation and making stronger connections with peers. Our friends are doing really well working on these goals. If you have any input toward your child's goals or would like to ask more about what we're focusing on with them, please don't hesitate to ask or send me a message through the XAP app. It is beneficial to your child if we can all work together. As always, we welcome any input, questions or concerns you may have about your child's time with us.

XAP APP: As some of you may have noticed, we are posting daily on the XAP app with your child's sleep and lunch record. We may also send through messages or observations regarding your child. If you cannot access the app or you are finding it is not working properly for you, please advise Tracey, myself or Miss Soph straight away so we can contact the tech team. At the end of each week, I am posting on both the Facebook page and the XAP app, so hopefully all of our families are seeing what their child is getting up to.

WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN UP TO? As you may have seen, we have been revising colours, shapes and counting through various activities. We have also been focusing on our feelings and emotions which tie in with self-regulating. We have noticed a big improvement in the toddlers' abilities to contribute to these discussions. Construction has been a big interest in the room lately so we have also been extending on that.

We recently had TRACTOR WEEK after seeing a tractor on the farm. Yesterday we saw 4 kangaroos jumping along the farm so we will be touching on this interest next week. We will also be learning about DOCTORS (understanding the world in which we live). One of our classmates will also be sharing her recent surgery experience with us.

We have been so proud witnessing some of the big developmental steps your children are achieving so far this year. We are excited to see what the rest of the year will bring.

Carina and Soph
3-5 Room

Hi everyone welcome back to another month in the 3-5 room, as we get stuck into the year ahead, we have been using this time to welcome new friends into the room, to bond with new friends, to explore new areas and spaces in the room outdoors and indoors and to connect together as a group. The children are forming new connections every day, building social skills in these early years is so important!

The children have been focusing on their individual goals and will continue to do so throughout the year as each child has different learning/developmental needs. We have been learning about sustainability, what it means and what we can do to support and encourage sustainability at an early age. In particular collecting, recycling, upcycling, energy saving, and water saving have been some of the topics covered. We will be beginning to look at transitioning to our healthy food activities in the coming weeks as it has been a popular topic of conversation at the lunch table lately!

Superstar Soccer is an extra-curricular activity presented by the Superstar Soccer team, if you wish for your child to participate in this program, please collect an enrolment form from Miss Sophie or Miss Tracey. This is a paid program and runs every Thursday at 11:00am-11:30am.

The weather is still very hot throughout the day please ensure to bring a hat and shoes for your child as we have a limited number of spare hats available, your child may be asked to remain under shade during outdoor play if they do not have a hat and suitable footwear. The children have been working hard on collecting and creating their outdoor buckets, these will be used to store hats, shoes or any belongings.

Reminders

  • Please provide a hat for outdoor play
  • A drink bottles.
  • Weather appropriate clothing (sleeved shirts)
  • Please label all of your child's belonging
  • Lastly please do not bring toys from home as this can cause confrontation and upset.

Thank you,

Miss Sophie
