March 2020

Welcome to March

From the front Office

We are having a special visit from Rob the Happy Pirate who will be presenting a water safety show featuring Surfer Sam. The cost of the show will be $7.50 per child. If you could bring cash on the day that would be great. This can be paid in advance if so required. The show will be on  Wednesday 11th March 2020 at 2:15 pm.

A big thank you to Waimaringi ( Irie's mum) for coming to help us celebrate Waitangi Day. It's always extra special when a parent visits us at Kindy.

Changes in The Centre

Due to the restructuring of the rooms, we have combined Senior Kindy and Pre-Prep. The kindergarten program will be implemented on Wednesday and Thursday. Mr Rob and I will be in the 3-5 room on these days.

Miss Carina and Miss Nic will be in the 0-3 rooms. Miss Sophie will be the assistant in both rooms when needed.

It is with great sadness that we are saying goodbye to Miss Donna. She has worked at Beattie Road Early Childhood Education centre for almost 15 Years.  During that time she has worked with every age group.  We will miss her. I want to wish her all the best with her future journey. Hopefully, she will visit us from time to time.

Facebook.

We upload photos daily on our Facebook page, so you can see what an exciting day at kindy your child had. Don't forget to check.  This is a public page so if you are not wanting your child on this page please let us know.

If you are happy with the quality of care that we offer at the centre ( and I know you are 🤗:) Can you please leave a review on our Facebook Page? We find that a lot of new families look at the recommendations. No recommendations are more valid than those of the families that attend our centre.

Promotional offer coming!

I am in the process of working on a promotional deal where if a family attending the centre refers a family who enrols in our centre, both the referring family and the new enrolling family will receive two free weeks of care at the centre. Terms and condition will apply.

Mosquitos

There have been quite a lot of mossies around lately due to the current rain situation. Please supply insect repellant if you wish us to apply it to your child.  Just let staff know when you arrive.

Headlice

Just a reminder that headlice are going round, again.  We will do the children at the centre rather than disrupting a family member who often has to leave work to come and collect the child.  If this is something that you would prefer, and you haven't already done so, just let a staff member know.  The charge for this service is $10.00 which will be added to your account.

Until next month, take care Tracey.

Nursery News
The babies have been focusing on their self-help skills, such as hand washing and feeding themselves. They are doing very well at attempting these activities, especially playing with the water during hand washing!🤗 We have been exploring our fine motor skills by using paintbrushes, attempting wooden
peg puzzles and building towers with Duplo and wooden blocks, but knocking the towers down is definitely the fun part!!
The babies are now using their voices, and becoming chatterboxes! They love songs, music, dancing and action songs. We will continue to develop their language skills by reading stories and lots of singing!!!
We recently enjoyed celebrating Waitangi Day. We had heaps of fun! We would love to continue representing children's cultures in our room. If there are any cultural celebrations you would like us to add to our calendar for this year please let Miss Carina or Miss Nicki know. As parents, you are a valuable source to our program, and we thank you for your input😊
Miss Nicki and Miss Carina

Toddlers News

As part of expanding our self-help skills, the toddlers have been focusing on fine motor activities such as scissor cutting and using craft tweezers. This will help to strengthen our hand muscles to assist with attempting more challenging everyday tasks independently.

This year we are hoping to continue to represent our children's cultures in our room. We recently enjoyed celebrating Waitangi Day.

If there are any cultural celebrations you would like us to add to our calendar for this year please let Miss Carina or Miss Nicki know.

Possum 3-5 Room News

Hello from the 3-5-year-old room. Children have been focusing on the alphabet and learning to sing it in the correct order. We have also been looking at the first letter of our name with a focus on letter recognition. Extending, from this children are busy working on tracing their names. Science has proved to be a favourite for the children in the past couple of weeks. We did a Walking Water Experiment which the children loved as they watched the coloured water transfer into empty cups via the paper towels. Children experienced the mixing of colours making many shades of secondary colours. Children are also developing self-control as these experiences happen in a group setting. Children are learning to wait their turn, use their manners and developing a sense of achievement and responsibility as each child plays a vital role in our science experiments.

Reminders

Could those yet to bring in a family photo please do so for our family tree. Please bring in sheets for your child, even if they don't sleep they still need to rest or do quiet activities on their bed. A hot is also needed for outside play. The centre had a 'no hat no play" policy. Children without a hat will be required to stay on the veranda.

Take Care Mr Rob
