Welcome to another newsletter. This month will hopefully see the completion of the yard. This has been held up due to weather and supply conditions.
Events
23rd June 2021 we are having Surfer Sam visit the centre. The cost of this is $7.50 per child. This is a 45mins show the children always have a great time when Surfer Sam visits.
28th June 2021 Henny Penny Chickens will be at the centre. The chickens will stay for 2 weeks. This is a great opportunity for children to be up-close and personal with the chicks. The cost of this is $10.00 per family. The centre will pay the balance.
Staff
Miss Nic will be back at work on approx. 16th June 2021.
I have recently returned from Alice Springs and Uluru. I must say it was an amazing trip! I returned with few Indigenous items for the centre and a greater understanding of Aboriginal Cultural, which will be implemented into the Kindy program.

Nursery
We have been keeping busy in the nursery . We have enjoyed video calls with Miss Nikki who is loving keeping in touch with the babies while she's on leave so they can continue their bond. Miss Nikki has remained very active in the leadership of the Nursery and is looking forward to her return. In the mean time Miss Carina and Miss Sophie are performing her role in the room.
We have been focusing on our social skills and gross motor skills and have introduced lots of sensory activities including foam, jelly, honey and paint. The babies have really responded to nursery rhymes so we've performed lots of singing and dancing which has been a beautiful way to bond as a group. We have also been continuing with transition songs such as "Bee Bee Bumble Bee".
We have been active participants in the community calendar events such as World Bee Day and Borobi Day. We would like to remind parents to please send your child in clothes that are suitable for messy play and not valuable, as clothes can get marked during various activities.

Toddlers
Jingeri from the Toddler room! As part of our ongoing Indigenous inclusion we will be participating in Borobi Day on Friday,28th May 2021. Borobi Day encourages us to learn and use greeting words from our home towns. Here on the Gold Coast "Jingeri" means hello/g'day. Borobi Day falls within National Reconciliation week so we will be continuing to incorporate Indigenous cultures into our activities over the upcoming week. We have recently implemented more Indigenous resources to our room including cushions for our quiet area, games and songs in Yugambeh language.
We have been working hard on more challenging cognitive task which require us to expand on our skills such a scissor cutting, gluing, tracing, colour and shape matching/recognising and counting tasks as we are all turning to big 3 this year! This has included new board games and a variety of craft activities. The toddlers have been doing amazing with this and have really shown maturity and persistence throughout these challenges.
We are doing very well with our toileting and will continue with our hand washing songs as they appear to be very effective. We have various transition songs that we sing throughout the day to help our daily routine run smoothly for everyone. If you would like to know any of these songs you are welcome to ask.
Can we also please remind families to bring sheets to Kindy so we can ensure your child's comfort during rest time?

Pre-school
Since the Easter holidays we have made some changes in the prep-school room with new routines and room settings. We are now trying to have longer group times and practice taking turns, listening and speaking during group time. This reinforcement helps support school readiness.
We have been looking at lots of shapes, numbers and colours, the children have also participated in many art activities , play and social events. In their learning and interactions we used a variety of methods such as flash cards, puzzles, videos clips, art works and books . To develop our speaking and listening skills we are encouraging children to bring in a favourite reading book from home. Please check the show and tell book roster for your child to ensure they bring their favourite book in to discuss and share with the class. This activity creates opportunities for children to grow and develop in many areas by enhancing their social, self esteem and language skills.
Please pack a warm jumper for the afternoons as winter approaches
Please label all belongings .
Please encourage children to keep personal toys at home to save upset if they go missing. Toys from home also cause conflict and emotional unrest.
