Spring time.

From the Office.

Well September was a busy month; the children really enjoyed the visit from Henny Penny, seeing the chickens being hatched is always a highlight of the year. This month will be just as busy as we are practicing for our end of year concert.

I have noticed of late that a few of the children's lunches have had a lot of sugar in them. The Australian Dietary Guidelines provide up-to-date advice about the amount and kinds of food we need to eat for health and well being. This information is based on scientific evidence and research.

  • To achieve and maintain a healthy weight, children need to be physically active and choose amounts of nutritional food and drinks to meet their energy needs. Children should be physically active every day and have their growth checked regularly.
  • Children need to enjoy a wide variety of food this should include vegetables of different colours, legumes and beans.
  • Grains(cereals) food, mostly wholegrain and or/high fibre varieties, such as breads, cereals, rice, pasta,& noodles.
  • Lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, nuts and seeds.
  • Milk, yoghurt, cheese and/or their alternatives, mostly reduced fat(reduced fat milk is not suitable for children under 2 years of age). Plus drink plenty of water. For more information the website is www.eatforhealth.gov.au There is also a 'Navigating the Maze of Mealtimes' workshop available at the Southport Health Precinct on Wednesday 24th OCT 2018. Please let me know if you are interested.

The Toddlers have been very busy during August and September, and we welcomed Ryder into the room on Thursday, we hope you are enjoying your time with us🤗 We have been exploring the big yard and becoming more confident using our gross motor skills, Luke and Rhylan have mastered the fort and are now able to slide down without any help👏! Language skills are being practiced daily with the toddlers, and attempts are being made to follow simple instructions like picking up hats, or putting their bed sheets away after rest timeGreat job everyone!

Malakai, Rhylan, Luke, Elle, Irie and Ryder love being outdoors, and we are looking forward to the warmer weather so we can have more outdoor play time.Water play has been a big part of our learning recently, and we are now moving on to being 'under the sea'. We have lots of artwork coming up so please excuse any mess🎨!

🎅🏻Christmas is fast approaching and we will be beginning our plans for the annual concert! 🎄 It will be held on Thursday the 13th of December at 3.15pm.... So PLEASE SAVE THE DATE! 🎅🏻

Snr Kindy Newsletter

Since last time we have continued to concentrate very hard on our alphabet, numbers, shapes, colours and name recognition.

Children are also being encouraged to use their cutting skills with scissors, this assists them with concentration, fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.

As we have moved into spring, children have been showing an interest in nature. We are going to be creating our own veggie garden with the pre prep class. We will be supporting children to develop respect for the environment, by modelling and assisting children in taking care of their garden.

This is following on from the last few weeks where children have been learning about the environment, and the ways the life and health of living things are interconnected.

We are promoting  healthy eating through different activities, we encourage learning through discussions and conversations about healthy food choice and nutrition.

If you have any great recipes or suggestions to share please pass them on as this will be greatly appreciated.

We are also concentrating on manners, respect, listening and concentration skills as general aims.

Could you please remember to label all clothing, sheets, water bottles, containers and hats, to ensure all items go home with the correct owners?

Until next time

Pre-Prep Newsletter.

Hello to our families.

We are quickly heading towards the end of the year and would like this opportunity to say it has been a very rewarding year to have been on this learning journey with your children.

They have become very self-assured, inventive social little beings, with the skills to move into their first year at school with determination and confidence. It has been wonderful and lots of fun to have shared this with them.

Parent/ Teacher interviews will be held on the week of the 29th October- 2nd November which ever time suits you. Look forward to this opportunity to touch base.

A friendly reminder about our warmer weather drawing close could you please supply lighter bedding as blankets/quilts are to warm now, also hats and sunscreen before care we will reapply throughout the day.

Mosquitos are becoming active also, if your child is prone to bites can you please ensure that you bring in repellent for them, as with the warmer weather we do play a lot outdoors in the afternoon, thank you.

Until next time
