News from the Office

Ahhh...the month of September marks the arrival of the lovely spring season in the city of Brisbane and what beautiful weather we have been having! The children have been enjoying extended outdoor play in the afternoons with the sunshine hanging around to keep us warmer for longer. Please ensure that your little one has sunscreen on (located in the foyer @ the Sunscreen Station) before they join their peers in the morning.

Just a Reminder:

The Toddler classroom is located at the end of the main foyer and does give access to the Toddler classroom.  However, this room is being used as a thoroughfare for families that are picking up or dropping off their children.   This is VERY disruptive to the Toddler children and the Educators that are providing care for the children.  The correct route to access neighbouring classrooms is via the veranda.

We kindly ask all families to not spend excessive amounts of time in classrooms that your children are not enrolled in.  It is lovely that the children have such a caring nature and love of the Nursery children but it can inadvertently become quite distressing for the infants and toddlers when multiple people occupy their classroom space.

We are more than happy to arrange visits for your children and neighbouring classrooms but when it is in the best interest of all children.  Thank you so much for your understanding and help.

 Explorer Time

We would like to start off by talking about what we have done over the past month. We have been focusing on shapes, particularly Circles, triangle, squares, diamonds, hearts and stars.

We have also been doing a lot of games associated with shapes, such as matching and memory shape games, different shapes bean bags.

You may have seen that we are also using place mats in our classroom at meal times. This is to promote children's agency. We want the children to be supported and feel confident and independent. The children are able to set their place at the table and decide who they want to sit with.  After meal times the children wash their face and their place mat, all ready to use again for the next meal time.  It is a great process to watch take place. We are very proud of our children and their abilities.

Please remember your child's hat, water bottle, sheets, spare clothes and enough nappies for the day.

Thank you

Lyn

Nursery News

Miss Trudy is back everybody!! While we absolutely love Miss Marivic, it is so wonderful to have Miss Trudy back in the Nursery classroom once again, feeling 100% Thank you to all of the families that enquiries about Trudy's progress and recover after she injured her back.

Welcome to our new Nursery additions! Malakai, Ashwat, Hunter and Poppy! We are so lucky to have so many little faces in the Nursery.  Hunter and Poppy both have big brothers that attend and have attended Daisy Hill ELC in the past so we are thankful that they have called on us once more to care for their little ones.

As the friends in this classroom are new to one another, the educators have been establishing a lot of floor play and tummy time play in groups.  This gives the children and educators alike the opportunity to interact and play with one another in a caring and nurturing way.

For more information on the Nursery program, observations, portfolios please see our friendly Nursery staff for further information.

 Toddler Time

Welcome Miss Linzi!!!!

Linzi has been in our centre in the role of Educator for nearly two years, and more recently the Educator in the Junior Kindy classroom.  Linzi has decided to further develop her skill set and is currently studying her Diploma of Early childhood Education and Care, she has taken on the position as Senior Educator in our Toddler classroom.  The children and families have been so welcoming and Linzi is doing a wonderful job, we are very proud to have her join our Senior staffing team.

Hi Everyone,

We have a wonderful month in the Toddler classroom, we have been focusing a lot on our relationships with one another, using gentle hands and kind words and just plain old playing with each other in a nice way.

Another focus has been our senses! We have been exercising our taste buds, sense of smell and touch....it has been a lot of messy, sticky fun.  The children did strawberry yoghurt painting last week and this was a bit hit, yesterday we made a milk, butter and egg free cake that was definitely not taste free! The children and staff loved it and could not believe it was free of so many of the traditional ingredients.

If you have any ideas on fun ways we can extend our learning, please let me know.  Your input is valued and much appreciated

Linzi :-)

CONGRATULATIONS

Miss DY has added to the list of her qualifications and attended her graduation ceremony last Friday to accept her Bachelor of Early Childhood.  We are all so proud of you DY.

Bask in your accomplishment and know that we are all so thankful that you are apart of our team!
