From the office

Welcome to all the new children and families who recently started at the Centre, we hope you are settling in well.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask a room Educator or a staff member in the office.  We are always happy to help!

We recently celebrated the 6th Birthday of the Centre opening its doors.  The children had a lot of fun dancing, playing with balloons and having a piece of birthday cake to celebrate.  Along with myself, Miss Cariad and Miss Angela have been working at Doolandella Early Learning Centre since, or before, its official opening day on 14th August 2014.

We also have a lot of other long-standing Educators who started not long after the Centre's official opened.  Miss Praxa & Miss Sophia will be six years employed at the end of September, while Miss Dipali, Miss Arley, Miss Khushi, Miss Faapepe, Miss Sarai, Miss Amirtha, Miss Florence & Miss Phoebe have all been here for 5 years.  We are so thankful for the commitment and dedication our staff show, towards the learning and development of the children who attend our Service.

On Wednesday 2nd of September, we will be celebrating Early Childhood Educators' Day.  Early Childhood Educators' Day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia's educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. It's a chance to say thank you to Australia's early childhood educators on a very personal level by service operators, families and their children, as well as collectively at the national level.  You can help us celebrate by making your favourite Educators a special thank you card at home, writing them an email with some lovely words or even just saying thank you at drop off or pick up time.  I'm sure they would all greatly appreciate it. https://youtu.be/bH9IfToC5hY

This week we will be finishing up our Book Fair.  You have until this Friday, 28th of August, to put your order in and pay your money.  A percentage of all books sold will go towards the Centre receiving new books for the classrooms.  We also have our Book Fair dress-up day this Tuesday 25th of August.  Please let your children dress up as their favourite book character, and, they can bring their favourite book along with them to read in class with all of their friends.

Lastly, a reminder to please follow all Centre notices, regarding Covid-19, to ensure the health and safety of all our staff, children and visitors to the Centre.  Please also remember to inform the Centre if your child is going to be absent for the day.

The following key actions will prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • stay home if you are sick
  • if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, get tested
  • stay 1.5 metres away from other people — think two big steps
  • wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser
  • leave a location if it is crowded.

If you have any concerns about your health, contact your doctor or phone 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) as soon as possible.

Your continued vigilance in monitoring your activities to reduce the spread of COVID-19 is greatly appreciated.

Until next time...
