Footprints Sunnybank | December 2022 newsletter

Merry Christmas and

Happy New Year !!!

From the office -

Wow can you believe it - December is upon us and another year has flown past by so quickly.

I hope that 2022 has shared some good moments for everyone. Whether it be an achievement, a moment, an adventure - I hope everyone has a little bit of 2022 that they will treasure and hoping and wishing that everyone will have a lot more amazing moments to treasure coming their way in 2023.

For Footprints, it is always a pleasure to have such a busy and happy centre. I hope this continues through into 2023, and I want to take a minute and thank each and every family that has chosen us to take care of their child, be it in 2022 or any year since we opened in 2009. Each and everyone is and are a special part of our centre and a special memory. We are blessed, thank you for choosing us and allowing us to be a part of your memories too.

Personally, one of the biggest things that has put a smile on my face in 2022 is being able to travel again

Childrens Christmas Party 2022

On Friday December 9th we enjoyed our annual centre Christmas party with the children. Thank you to all that came and celebrated with us, we had a ball.

We enjoyed being able to share a meal, a movie and then lots of fun dancing. Many happy smiles all around which is always fantastic to see.

We really enjoyed our special visitor too. Thank you Santa for stopping in. It made our night. Photos of the children with Santa will be available on Educa shortly.

Kindergarten Graduation 2022

Wednesday December 14th saw us hosting the Kindergarten Graduation for 2022.

Thank you to all that came and made it a wonderful event, we were so pleased you could all make it.

Thank you to all our graduates who came and walked proudly down the red carpet. We wish you all the very best of luck with the next step you are taking in life - going off to prep. We are so excited for you all.

Miss Felicity has placed all the photos we took on the Educa page for you all to see. We hope you like them.

I truly enjoyed seeing the reunion photos, weren't they funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

I wonder if comparison photos are taken in 2077 whether they will match ??? Time will tell.

Thank you to Miss Felicity and Miss Paula for organising and conducting the graduation, you both did so well.

The room changeover will begin on 23rd January 2023. Until then the educators will remain in their current rooms. Over the holiday period we will be transitioning children based on numbers to give them the opportunity to explore and become familiar with the room that they will be moving into on 23.01.2023.

On XAP you would be able to see what room your child will be in for 2023 if you have done your re-enrolment. Please if you haven't done this already please do so as I will be opening up the days to others from the 9th of January, 2023 (when I return from leave). To avoid disappointment and missing out on your required days, please do the re-enrolment process ASAP. Thank you.

Payments over the holiday period

As always over the holiday period, pays can be a bit haphazard as to when they arrive in our accounts. It is nice to have holidays (the upside), however pays can be a bit all over the place (the downside). Please ensure you have the funds available for debit when due (you will get an email reminder from XAP) to avoid dishonour fees and us having to follow up payment with you. This would be greatly appreciated.

A concern to share - leaving children in car unsupervised

We are noticing a growing number of times that children are being left in a car in the carpark without adult supervision. I just want to leave this article with you for your own reading and information. Whilst we cant tell you what to do, we do strongly encourage families to not leave children in cars unsupervised. You can also face jail or fines if found guilty of doing so. Please click on link below to read article.

Is it okay to leave kids alone in cars? - Brisbane Kids

Things can go wrong and its best practice to avoid the what ifs.

I'd like to share a personal experience I had at a centre I previously worked at -

The car park was on a hill. My car was parked at the bottom of the car park as that is where opening and closing staff parked. A parent parked at the top of the car park, ran in to pay fees and left kids in the car. One of her children jumped into the front seat, released the hand brake and the car started reversing down the car park. It was stopped when it hit my car. My car acted as a barrier. Had the car kept going it would have crossed the road and gone into the oval of the school across the road where children were playing. Whilst my car was damaged, I was thankful that was the only thing that was damaged that day. It was a lesson learned for everyone.

I would also like to share an experience a previous parent at the centre went through -

She was on her way to leaving home to bring child to centre, child was in car, mum was too ready to go. Mum remembered suddenly that she forgot something inside, left car running and child in car, ran inside to get what she forgot, came back outside to see no car and child. It was a lucky ending as down the road, the car was abandoned with child still in car.

Things happen, what ifs... I will leave that thought with you all.

With that brings me the end of the last newsletter for 2022. Thank you all again for an amazing year and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2023.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

With a smile 😊

Glenda
