Footprints Sunnybank | June 2018 Newsletter

From the Office:

Hi everyone,

Welcome to another edition of our monthly newsletter. I hope everyone is rugging up and keeping warm. The cooler months are a reprieve from the severe heat we have been enduring, however a quick reminder must be made to advise that if your child presents symptoms of being unwell - e.g. fever, vomiting, not appearing to be their normal self.. They are best to be kept at home. Also if you have had to administer panadol/nurofen in the morning, it is advised that they be kept at home as well. We do our best to provide a healthy environment for all and thank you for working with us to help keep everyone healthy.

Parent Teacher/CCS (child care subsidy) Meetings

On Wednesday 27th  June, we will be hosting our Parent Teacher meetings - meeting times booking sheets will be placed on the classroom doors for you to book your time slot.

I will also be available to speak with individual families about the new CCS (Child Care Subsidy) and how it will work for your family. Booking Sheet for you to book your time slot will be available in the front foyer.

We will have a classroom for children to be looked after whilst you are attending your interview if you need to bring children with you :-)

Community Visits

On Wednesday the 6th of June, we had a visit from a local dentist and tooth fairy. They visited the Senior side to educate them on the importance of good dental health and hygiene.

A big Footprints thanks goes out to Local Dentist Erik Fung from Aperture Dental Practice -3B/528 Compton Rd, Sunnybank Hills,

Phone:(07) 3188 9477 or Appointments: aperturedental.com.au

Feel free to contact them for assistance with your families' dental needs.

On Tuesday the 19th of June at 10 am, Footprints will be experiencing a visit from the Queensland Ambulance Service. They will be bringing along their ambulance and will be telling us all about their role and how they can help us and if we are really lucky we might get to see and hear some lights and sirens. We cant wait ! Stay tuned to our Facebook page for more information and pictures after the visit.

Footprints Reading Library

Our reading library -   Take a book. Return a book. Donate a book. Is up and running. Thank you to those families who have been using this. A BIG thank you to Miss Bernadette for her contribution to the library (donations of books). We have moved the library to the hallway just outside the Nursery so that you can see it and access it quicker and easier. We would love to hear your feedback on how this is going at home.

Parent Involvement

Parents/Families are always welcome at the centre with our open door policy. Please feel free to speak to staff if you would like to come and join us at any time. You could come along and be a kid for a morning and participate in activities. Do you play an instrument ? Could  you come in and play this instrument and we can sing along. Do you like to tell stories ? Would you like to come along and read a story or create one of your own with the children. Have you got a green thumb ? Are you able to come and help us out with our playground gardens ? Do you love to cook ? Would you be willing to come and teach us your favourite recipe ?

These are just a few examples of things you could come and do here at the centre with us and we would ABSOLUTELY love it if you could.

Remember if there is anything we can do to make your time here with us at Footprints easier - please let us know. We will be happy to help where we can. Till next month, keep warm and healthy.

With a smile,

Glenda
