FOOTPRINTS SUNNYBANK | MAY 2020 NEWS

 A message from the Office,

Hi everyone and welcome to our May 2020 newsletter.

Firstly I want to say a BIG welcome to all our new families that have started with us over the past couple of weeks, it is been really heart-warming for the Footprints educators to be able to welcome new children and families to our Footprints Family. With the whole COVID-19 situation occurring, we saw a very bleak start to what is normally a very busy enrolment period. It was scary, and instead of growing in numbers, we were seeing families staying at home and no new enrolments beginning. Going from 5 classrooms open, to 2.  It truly has been a different first half of the year for everyone hasn't it.

I want to take a moment to thank ALL of our families for their understanding and support during this ongoing COVID-19 period. It has been a hard situation for all and I would like to think that our families have felt supported and kept in the loop by us during this time.

To those who have been away and have now returned, welcome back and to those who have yet to return, we look forward to seeing you return, whenever this may be.

To the educators/staff of the centre - thank you for your perseverance in a time where we have had to navigate uncertain waters - waters never treaded before in our times. Each and every day you have all shown up and provided the love and care that you always do, helping to ensure our children have had some sense of normality and routine during this uncertain times. Thank you - you are appreciated for everything that you do.

Now that the centre is getting busier again, (from next week we will have 4 classrooms officially open again - so exciting), I do want to take the time to remind families that we still need to follow safe hygiene practices when entering and going through the building. Please, can we only have one family member drop off/pick up children to limit traffic coming in and out of the centre. Please use the gloves, hand sanitiser, paper towel provided at the entrance to assist you with keying your door code, opening doors and keying the sign in and out kiosks. When dropping off and picking up, please limit your time in the centre. Remembering at all times to practice social distancing with other educators and families. We are by no means anywhere near the end of this pandemic and have to keep doing what we can to keep ourselves and each other safe.

Please, if your child is sick - please, keep them at home. If you are sick, please organise for someone else to drop off/pick up your children. More than ever now we need to be vigilant in keeping everyone healthy where we can.

For those families yet to return, please advise in writing at least one week prior to your planned return, as always, we still have to be mindful of staffing and ratio requirements. Knowing planned returns in advance, assists with the construction of the staffing roster.

A friendly reminder to all parents to be mindful when driving in the car park, please ensure you are driving slow and that especially when you are reversing to take great care in looking around you before moving. The safety of our families is of great importance. We want to help keep your children as well as others safe at all times.

Do you check your child's EDUCA profile regularly ? A timely reminder now that we have many children back at the centre that your child's daily reflection and photos each day your child attends is available on your child's profile, as well as additional reports and observations by their educators. We love hearing your thoughts and feedback on the items we post, please don't be shy and feel free to add comments where you can, we love seeing your comments and knowing that EDUCA is active and you are seeing what we are posting.

As always we are here to help in any way that we can, please let us know if we can support you further in anyway, anytime you need.

Till next month,

Keep safe.

With a smile :-)

Glenda
