February News

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to our latest edition of Jellybean News! The end of February is fast approaching, Easter will be here before we know it. To those of you that have recently joined our wonderful Centre, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family. We certainly hope that you enjoy your time with us! Please be sure to follow the link to our Educa site so that you can see how our day at Jellybeans runs. The Centre also has a Centre Facebook Page that gets updated regularly with photos of the children enjoying their day.

I would just like to touch base on the importance of ensuring you use the KIOSK to sign your child in and out daily. It is a government requirement that children are signed in and out daily. If you have forgotten your pin, I can easily rest this.

If your Direct Debit fails for any reason a payment will need to be made at drop off prior to your child staying. Please ensure that the Bank details we have on file are kept up to date at all times. If your details have changed a new Direct Debit Form will need to be filled out and signed. These are available from the office.

Birthdays are a huge milestone for everyone and we love being able to celebrate these days with your children. Please feel free to bring in a cake for your child to share with their friends on their special day. If you have any questions in regards to what is acceptable and what isn't please have a chat with your child's room Educators, they will be able to let you know if there are any allergies or food intolerances you may need to be wary of. Cupcakes are a huge hit!

Thie year we would love to incorporate more cultural experiences into our daily programme. To further enhance our understanding of different cultures we need your input! Would you have the time to come in and share a cultural cooking experience with your child's room or would you like to read a story or sing songs? If this is you please let us know so we can organize a suitable time so we can all enjoy this experience.

Our QIP is currently being reviewed and revised and I am looking for ways that our families can contribute more easily. Do you find emails, newsletters or surveys more effective as this would assist in how we get input from our families? Our Educators are currently reviewing Quality Area 2 - Each Child's Health and Physical Activity is Supported and Promoted.

How do you feel the service meets this standard? Do you feel there is improvement required or do you feel Jellybeans exceeds the standard? Feedback from our families is vital and helps us improve the service being offered. Please feel free to pop through and email with your feedback - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

As we are a very multicultural service I often question do our families understand what our QIP is. It is a live document that is used to review and revise the different Quality Standards and how our service meets these. It is readily available for anyone to pursue at any time if you are keen to have a browse please let me know.

Thanks

Nursery News!

Hello and a big welcome to our first newsletter for Nursery One!!

Wow! What a busy start to the year. We would like to welcome our new friends Alex, Aria, Dalton, Ella, Francisco, Layla and Lily who have joined us in January and February. We are thrilled to walk this amazing and meaningful learning journey together.

We would like to say a big happy birthday to Dalton and Layla.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been focusing on settling our group into a routine while also building and nurturing relationships and friendships with educators and our little friends. We are very pleased to say that the children have settled in very well and became familiar with the routines.

Our babies are all looking magnificent and are growing up very quickly, and we can notice the differences every day.

To celebrate Valentine's day during the art and craft times the little children created many wonderful things such as Sponge Heart Painting and Collage Heart as well as had many other activities for sensory play with rice and play dough.

Over the next few weeks, we will also be teaching the little children about self- help skills, health, and hygiene.

If you any questions or would like to have any input into our program or regarding your child and their progress, please don't hesitate to discuss this with our friendly staff.

Finally, we would like to remind you to name all your child's belongings and pack spare clothes.

Thanks for entrusting your little ones to our care,

Miss Jasmine and Miss Ruby

Are you in need of Help!

In light of the recent tragic events that have been shared across the media, I would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that there is help out there.

Domestic violence is not always physical. It can be verbal, emotional, financial, social, psychological, digital, sexual, spiritual or cultural, or it could involve stalking, as well as damage to personal property. Domestic violence occurs when someone in an intimate relationship (boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife) or an ex-partner, uses fear to control the other person.

Toddler 1 - Activity Time

Welcome to the February Newsletter.

We have been settling very nicely in to our room and making some great new friendships. We have been busy this month celebrating Valentine's Day by making love heart shape cookies, artwork heart shape stamping with toilet rolls, stained glass heart shape windows.

We have been showing a lot of interest in dancing to the wiggles or baby shark so we have been adding bubbles or balloons to dance with. We have also been playing in home corner a lot and getting our imaginations working and using the skills we see at home in home corner.

We have been all getting so good at sitting on the mat for group time and showing a lot of interest in stories and singing and learning new songs.

Just a quick reminder if you are able to name or your child's belongings that way we can ensure they get sent home to the right child.

At the start of the year you would all of received a All About Me Form for your child if you are able to fill that out and return it that would be lovely.

I would also like to wish Manaia and Hailey a very happy 2nd birthday.

If you have any questions or want to know about your child please come and have a chat. 😊

Miss Hayley and Miss Shaileen

Hi everyone and welcome to the first newsletter for Toddler Two in 2020. It's crazy to believe that February is almost over. 2020 seems to be flying by. Miss Ha and I would like to thank you all for your warm welcome and getting to know you all over this time. We're both excited for what the year has in store for us all.

Throughout January and February there has been a few special holidays, from Australia Day, Waitangi Day, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day, we have implemented different experiences through art and play, from stamping, golf ball painting, collaging and cooking.

Babies play has been a big hit with the children this year. Each day you can find the children carrying the babies around the room, feeding them some food or patting them to sleep. This encourages the children's role play skills, communication and social skills.

You can find the cars and garage set up most days. The children love driving the cars around the mat and through the garage. One of the children's favourite things to do in letting the cars go down the ramp. Each time they do this, they clap their hands and say "Yay".

Until next time,

Miss Steph and Miss Ha

We would like to welcome the Toddlers and their Parents/Caregivers to Junior Kindy. We hope you all enjoy your time with us in Junior Kindy and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to talk to myself or my Assistant, Navneet.

As the year progresses, we will be concentrating on language using books, singing songs, transition, picture and colour/shape cards. We have been singing "Bee Bee Bumble Bee" so your children will learn to say their names. We will also be helping your children with their social and sharing skills.

So far we have celebrated Australia Day by reading Australian Books, listened to Australian songs and used an Australian fly squatter to make beautiful pictures which are hanging in our room. We also celebrated Waitangi Day which is New Zealand's version of our Australia Day by colouring in a Waitangi picture which is on the wall as you walk in the room.We will be collaging red hearts with different red objects to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Junior Kindy have their own garden bed just in front of the sandpit that the children will be looking after. At present we have some succulents planted but will soon be planting seedlings for everyone to water and watch grow into beautiful flowers. We are just waiting for the rain to subside so we can plant them. The garden bed is full of worms which we feed fresh fruit and everyone is amazed when I did them up for them to see. They love to watch them wriggling around.

We are always open for input from parents/caregivers so if anyone has any suggestions that you would like to share regarding the day to day running of the room, please do not hesitate to talk to myself or Navneet and we will do our best to implement your suggestions into the program.

Just a reminder that nappies are not supplied in Junior Kindy so we are happy for you to supply a bag if this is easier than sending them on a daily basis and we can let you know when they are running low. Also please remember to send a hat for outside play.We look forward to having a wonderful year with your beautiful children and watching them grow and learn new things.

Veronica and Navneet

A day in the Kindy Room

Hi and welcome to our first Kindy newsletter for 2020.

Wow, the weeks are beginning to pass by very quickly as we approach the end of February everyone is beginning to find their place within the room rekindling old or forming new friendships with peers.

As well as familiarizing themselves with the routine of the room, this helps build resilience and foster social and emotional skills within the children as they find their place within the room.

Our main focus throughout the last few weeks has been the room routine & rules, Australia day and Valentine's day. We are looking forward to celebrating St Patrick's day, Harmony day and Easter.

We have created some beautiful artworks which are displayed around the room using a variety of materials, techniques and colours and this week have begun our first theme "Under the sea".

Please make sure when you come to pick up your child to look around the room to see what fabulous artists we have here and to see our room turn into an underworld paradise.

Please don't forget to label your child's possessions so the staff can keep track of who owns what within the room. And bring in 5 to 6 nappies/pull-ups each day your child attends the service for toileting.

If you are wishing to start your child's toilet training wearing cotton underpants, please talk to staff as we are more than happy to help support you and your child with this transition.

Please remember to bring a hat, drink bottle and sheets each day so that your child can enjoy the full daycare experience when playing in and outside as their health and safety is important to us.

If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to come and discuss them with either Cristina or myself as we are quite happy to help you, until next time Cheers

Pedeta and Cristina

Part of Our Daily Routine

Firstly Miss Xinh and I would like to welcome all of our families and new friends to the Pre-school 2 room. We have enjoyed our time so far with getting to know your children and giving them a chance to feel comfortable with us. During the end of January and most of February we have been bonding with one another and learning about the room rules and routines, all of the children have transitioned really well from the younger rooms we only have a few tears in the mornings at drop offs, we assure you this can be quite normal for some children.

We will begin tracing our names next week as we have shown fantastic fine motor and listening skills while tracing lines on our morning activity writing sheets. We have touched on some cultural experiences using art/craft, song and story these included Australia day, Chinese New Year, Waitangi Day and Valentines Day. Each day we encourage and guide the children to show some independence within the daily happenings of the room, they are showing a positive outlook towards making their beds, packing bed sheets away and the need to go to the toilet. All of the children have taken this on board and they all should be very proud of themselves.

A quick reminder to assist your child's developmental learning please pack and name your child's bag with a hat, drink bottle and spare clothes, as they are still learning to go to the toilet. If your child requires nappies please provide pull-ups  and their milk in a sippy cup.

Until next time Miss Julie and Miss Xinh

Hello and welcome to the Preschool Room,

The children have spent the last couple of weeks getting to know each other and the room routine. The children have participated in Australia Day, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day activities. Over the coming weeks we will be looking at Families and Our Senses, as well as focusing on developing the children's fine motor skills. We will also celebrate Pancake Day and I'm sure the children will enjoy cooking and eating them.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer your time, please come and have a chat.
