Hello Families,

It has been a busy month in the toddlers room, we have been focusing on our sensory skills, fine motor skills and our colours.

During the morning tea cycle we have gotten into a routine of eating outside with our junior friends. We have been using the tongs to serve ourselves which the children got the hang of really quickly.

We focused on the ocean theme for a few weeks which the children loved. We listened to different sounds of sea animals and we also looked at what some sea animals looked like. The children could recognise some familiar animals in the sea.

We did a lot of different painting activities which the children loved. We focused on their hand-eye coordination skills and fine motor skills.  We did splatter painting, recycle bottle painting, marble painting, thick brush painting and stamp painting just to name a few.

This month we will be focusing on the "Christmas theme" we will be making Christmas decorations to put around the room and listening to Christmas songs .

I want to thank the you all for trusting me to take on this roll of being your child's Educator, its been a great experience and I'm so happy I got this opportunity.

We are all looking forward to next year and what the year will bring.

Thank you

Miss Alyssa & Miss Jila

Merry Christmas to all the families in the Juniors room! November was such a busy month for the children in the room, we explored the body as a topic and each week we learnt something new. We incorporated this into all areas of play which allowed the children to explore in social settings like dress ups and role playing. Quietly through books and videos, in discussion through group times and of course through fun games which challenged the children to learn words.

For this month we are starting a new topic which is themed Christmas around the world, we have started already by learning new phrases to say Merry Christmas. We are exploring traditions and crafts and games that other countries do during Christmas. Keep an eye out for our projects wall as we add more learning on it.

Hi from the Junior Kindy Room.

It's been a busy fun filled year, learning a lot, making friends, getting to know each other, & having fun playing. This year we've learnt our colours, the alphabet, counting to 20 & lots of songs. We've developed our social skills a lot, our creative/cognitive & self help skills, & we're all ready for a new year of learning experiences.

Thank you from Miss Ruth & Miss Anu

 Hello everyone,

It is hard to believe that we are now in the final weeks of term four 2018, and soon most kindergarten children will be proudly wearing their school uniforms. As you have received the Transition Statements for your child/children, please hand in a signed copy of the document to the school where your child is enrolled. If you would like me to email the copy to the school, please come to see me to sign the document digitally.

Summer is here, so please help us to protect your children from the sun by ensuring that their hat is in their bag ready for them to put on. The children are not encouraged to wear spare hats as this increases the risk of spreading head lice. Some children are reluctant to wear hats, so you may like to reinforce the reason for this.

The celebration of Diwali festival was brilliant as we enjoyed the dress ups, food and dances. Children and educators had the opportunity to learn a culture that is related to some of the families in our centre. Kindergarteners extended the learning by watching a documentary video from The Discovery Chanel about the traditions of the celebration in India and exploring the Rangoli art. Through exploration of Rangoli art the children learned symbols, patterns, colours and shapes. They also explored the possibilities of using everyday tools such as plates, hanger or wooden spoon to create shapes and patterns. Children have begun to understand how symbols and pattern system work. They use information and communication technologies to access information, investigate ideas and represent their thinking.

Throughout November kindergarteners have been exploring numbers, letters and shapes using sensory activities such as play dough and collages. They even made their own uncooked play dough and most of them remembered the ingredients we need to make it. The children contributed and participated in preparing and making materials for all the children to play with. They demonstrated a sense of belonging and comfort in their environment.

Kindergarteners always love building things with LEGO, Mobilo or wooden blocks indoors and outdoors. We are very lucky to be able to purchase new equipment and building connectors to add to our outdoor learning environment. Children extended their interest by using boxes to build and create new things. Through this exploration children were involved in thinking about their ideas, planning their constructions through drawings and small group discussions before building and presenting their ideas and work in small and big groups. For the next two weeks kindergarten children will be busy working on a big project, making a Christmas tree from boxes 😊
