February News

Welcome

Welcome to our February Newsletter.

A big welcome to the new families who have recently joined us. Every month you will receive a monthly newsletter from the Centre.

Carpark

Parent carpark - please ensure the carpark in front of the Centre is not used for drop off or pickup. This is staff car park only. It is also a requirement that parents do not use this carpark as the risk of cars coming and going is high when in front of a playground.

We ask that all parents use the street parking or the corner carpark in the shopping complex for drop off and pick up. Please note that there is yellow lines on parts of the street. Please do not park here, otherwise you risk being fined by the Council.

Get Grubby Program

Get Grubby Program – coming to Kidz Magic

The get grubby program aims to create a learning environment where sustainability makes sense and everyday behaviours are cultivated. It celebrates nature and empowers young children to do little things that make a big difference.

The get grubby program aspires to create confident, resilient and involved learners by combining play and intentional teaching. It is a holistic approach that recognises that the best outcomes for sustainability learning are achieved through practical activities that engage mind, body and spirit that build everyday behaviours.

Learning Japanese

Our Kindergarten classes for 2022 will be learning Japanese as a second language. There will be rosters displayed soon. This will indicate what day your child will be participating in the program.

Studio News

We have had quite a few new parents and children joining our nursery room recently so we would like to welcome you and thank you for choosing our service and we are extremely excited to be on this journey with you! We recognize that this transition into day care for the first time can be extremely hard, so we aim to work with you and provide you as much support and care that we can to ensure a smooth, easy and peaceful adjustment for both you and your baby.
To make this transition even easier, we ask that you provide us with an 'All About Me' form, which should outline in detail information such as:

  • Dietary requirements
  • Eating (do they self-feed, baby led weaning, introducing solids etc)
  • Bottle routine (formula, breastmilk, how often do they feed)
  • Sleeping habits (how do they like to sleep, how long for etc)
  • Comforters (dummy, sleeping bag, blanket)
  • Likes and dislikes (do they settle when listening to music, do they prefer quieter settings, do they like animals etc)

This will assist us with ensuring that their home routine is matched with their daycare routine as much as possible. Our little babies are growing so fast, so please keep us updated on any changes in their routine.
As well as their 'All About Me' form, we also ask that you pack lots of spare clothes, a drink bottle, a fitted sheet and nappy cream etc with a chemist label on it. Please also ensure that all of your child's belongings are clearly labelled with their name.

We also have baskets in our kitchen which are used to hold your children's bottles and formula. We are in the process of ensuring that each child has their photo clearly labelled on each basket to make the process of unpacking in the mornings a lot easier for you and us!

We want to ensure that all of our little ones settle in nicely and feel safe and secure while here in our care. It is our priority to create an environment where they can form a trusting bond with us, allowing them to explore their room and form friendships with their peers in the Bottlebrush room.

Welcome to the coolibah room. It's been great to familiarise ourselves with you all. We have an amazing team working with all of you. It's been wonderful watching the children familiarise themselves with their new surroundings, children and the educators. Exploring different toys and many things around them which brings new learning and experience for them, make them feel safe and secure within our care. Children have settled well with new faces around them. It is making them feel safe and secure.

As a part of our learning, we are focusing on sitting together in a group and developing confidence. Musical toys are also one of the activities for our group and we all are learning to make sounds with different musical toys. Children are loving our Dinosaur area and exploring different types of dinosaurs there. We have been focusing on self-help skills too, it includes sitting together at the table while eating, recognising water bottles and putting them in the trolley after finishing meals. We are also encouraging children to remember to put their hats on and point to the sunscreen before they go outside.

We always love parent input in our program, and love to hear about any family or weekend experiences or child interest you would like to share with us.

A Few things to add:

  • Label everything which your child brings, including water bottles, milk bottles and the lids, dummies, hats, and sheets /spare clothes.
  • Bring a labelled container of Nappy rash cream
  • Supply your own sunscreen only if your child has sensitive skin.
  • Miss Monica, Miss Emma and Miss Kalpana

Dear Families, we hope you have had a great start to the year so far. Our main area of focus this past month has been to smoothly transition the children in to the room and making sure they develop strong connections with their Educators and feel safe and supported in their new environments and after a team reflection we are quite proud with how things are progressing and we view our room as more of a Eucalyptus family and we are all quite close in such a short amount of time and these bonds will only continue to grow so thank you for choosing us to care for your children each day and please always come and communicate to us with any questions or concerns you may have as we are very passionate about having that open line of communicate with you so your child can soar here at Kidz Magic.

Over the coming months we will be focusing on exploring the children's interest/voice and where that takes us and that will include activities such as: science discovery, water play, music and dance. Another key area of focus will be involved learning as the children continue to show interest in counting and the alphabet so we will continue learning activities with this.

Just a reminder to please label all of your child's belongings so we can make sure nothing gets lost during the day.

We are excited to grow together over the next term,

Miss Katrina & Miss Clara

The children in the Lilly Pilly Room have been busy exploring their new room, developing their self-help skills, practising following a routine, and developing friendships. This month the children have been participating in sensory activities, helping them to learn about the world around them and participating in activities that develop their fine motor skills.

The children have shown an interest in animals/dinosaurs. We have been discovering what sounds the animals make, the names of the animals, where the animals might live and what they might eat. We have been doing this through looking at books, singing songs about animals and through animal world play. This helps the children learn about caring for animals, and helps the children with their language development.

While outside the children are enjoying nature & the fresh air while developing their gross motor skills, balance, & co-ordination. These are exciting challenges for the children.

Looking forward to a great year!

January has been very busy and exciting at the same time for the Paperbark room as we welcomed new children and new lovely families into our classroom. The children have started establishing and maintaining a trusting relationship with their new educators Miss Anastazia, Miss Bijal and Miss Dimple.
We are very happy to welcome you all into our room and work with you and your children to help them grow and develop. We hope to do the best we can to assist in the transition of leaving your child with us. It is our goal to ensure that your child feels safe, secure, loved, and welcomed while in our care.
As this time of the year is quite challenging for children with the room changes, different educators, and environment, it is crucial that we help them to deal with these changes and acknowledge children's feelings. All the children who transitioned from previous rooms or new children, they have been super brave and have been confidently exploring and engaging with social and physical environment which is amazing.
We have been talking a lot about Australian animals which was related to Australia day and extended on reading about Australian animals, singing songs and doing actions, listening the sounds they make, painting koala and dancing and moving like Australian animals.
We would like to continue with "animals' topic" and learn a bit more about underwater animals, farm animals, jungle animals as long as children show the interest.
The children showed a great interest in role play especially home corner where yummy food has been cooked by our little chefs.
The playdough has been very popular in our room and children also love to participate in making it.
We would like to concentrate on sensory experiences much more in following months and also, we would like to do more painting, art and craft and messy plays once everyone is settled into our routine ;-)
The children in Paperbark room have been learning a few new songs, e.g. "Listening song", "I'm taking home my baby Bumble bee", "Baby crocodile", "Days of the week", "Wriggly worm. "
We hope to be here when your child is dropped off, however sometimes we are not able to, due to different hour shifts. Therefore, we have a parent communication book located in our room for you to write down messages. If you have anything in your mind that you would like to add to our program, please feel free to approach us. We would love your input.
Thank you for reading

Paperbark Educators

In our wattle room, the children have been busy settling into their new room and developing on making new friendships. Our room has been setup for the children to develop new interests and further extend on their interests. The children have been enjoying exploring our home corner area as it has a variety of pretend foods, plates, bowls, and cups where they can use their imaginations. They enjoy making meals for their friends and their educators as well. We have also been engaging in a range of table activities where we setup the tables in the morning with different fine motor and cognitive experiences for the children.

Last month was all about getting the children settled and comfortable in their new room and this month we have been focusing on the children's interests and how we can develop on them. We are also focusing on learning about shapes and practicing drawing and tracing them. During group times, we have been talking about emotions and feelings and asking the children how they are feeling today.

Through our group experiences, the children have started to form great friendships amongst each other as they communicate together, sharing toys and waiting patiently for each other when one is having a turn at an activity. We will continue to focus on the children's friendships and engage in conversations through group experiences which will encourage the children to talk to each other and support each other through daily experiences.

It has been great seeing how our wattle children are growing every day, becoming confident and involved learners within their new room.

Please remember to label your child's belongings.

If you have any questions, please approach the educators in the room and they will be able to assist you.

Thankyou

Miss Simran, Miss Sukh and Miss Fazia

Kindergarten News

We have had a busy start in the kindy 1 room settling in and becoming familiar with our new environment. We have had so much fun getting to know all our new friends and our educators. To start the year we have been focusing on getting to know our friends by participating in fun hands-on learning activities that are All about me and our families. We have been becoming familiar with our facial features by observing ourselves in the mirror and copying what we look like in various creative ways.

This term In kindy 1 we will also be focusing on hand-eye coordination skills, fine motor skills and feeling safe and secure within our environment. These will be achieved through fun play-based activities and over the coming weeks we will also be focusing on exploring colour mixing as that has been our most favourite activity this week. We will also explore our feelings and how we respond when we have emotions that we need to control.

If your child would like to share a special item from home please send along to kindy for our show and tell group time.

Mr Callum and myself look forward to working together throughout 2022 to make your child's learning journey fun and enjoyable.

Welcome back! We are very excited that Term 1 has started! Kindergarten 2 is run by 2 qualified teachers- Miss Elfin and Miss Cherry. We both believe in Reggio Emilia approach, believing children are competent and have hundred languages to express their understanding of the world. Therefore, you will see a lot of art, yoga, dancing, music, loose part play, etc, throughout our Kindergarten program.

Based on research, the right brain, which is responsible for empathy, intuition, imagination and creativity, develops first. The left brain on the other hand, doesn't fully come online until they reach the age of 7, Therefore, our program is scientifically designed to promote children's right brain development through play-based approach. This means learning through their senses.

In the first term, our focus will be supporting children to get used to the routine and build connection with their new friends and new teachers. The next main project will be "All About Me". In the meantime, we will be assessing where your child is at against the Queensland Kindergarten Guideline and goals will be set in the middle of the term, approximately beginning of March.

Things to know

Lockers- Please clear out the locker after your child 's last attendance of the week, so that the locker is available for the other child who attends next day. If your child is attending 4 consecutive days, Monday to Thursday, please clear out the locker on Thursday on pick up. If you child is attending staggered days, please clear the locker if your child is not attending the following day.

Water bottle- To assist our daily operation, please place your bottle into the designated Kindy 2 Water bottle trolley on arrival and take it home on pick up. Additionally, please name your child's water bottle.

Lost and Found basket- The basket is located next to the sunscreen station in the classroom. If any of your child 's belonging is missing, please feel free to check the basket. We will try to keep the forgotten items in the basket until the end of the week, then we will clear the basket on the following working day.

Name your child's belongings- Please make sure all of your child's belonging have your child's name on. It is easier to find them.

Sun safety- Please send your child with a board brimmed hat and a T-shirt to protect themselves from getting sunburn.

Outside food- Please do not bring any outside food into the service. This includes fruit and snack. This is the whole centre health and safety policy to ensure that the children only consume food and beverage provided by the service.

We look forward to having a great term with everyone!

Warmest regards,

Miss Cherry and Miss Elfin
