The Australian Government has launched the 'Get the facts about immunisation' education campaign. I have added some information below about immunisations.

Get the Facts - Help protect the community

By getting your child vaccinated, you're not only protecting them, you're also protecting other children too. Make sure you vaccinate your child on time.

How do I know if my child's immunisations are up to date?

If you're unsure what vaccinations your child has, you can view their Immunisation History Statement.

To do this, you can:

  1. Go to your Medicare online account through myGov.
  2. Use the Express Plus Medicare mobile app. To use the app, you'll need a Medicare online account set-up through myGov.
  3. Call the Australian Immunisation Register enquiries line. It can take 14 days to get the statement in the post.

The quickest way to get a statement is using your Medicare online account through myGov. You can also use the Express Plus Medicare mobile app.

You can save and email the statement directly to your child's pre-school or child care centre.

Prepare for your child's Appointment

Young children commonly get colds and mild fevers. Some parents are concerned when this occurs at the same time as vaccinations.

Most of the time it's not a problem to vaccinate when your child is mildly unwell. If you're in doubt, talk to your doctor or nurse first.

Skipping or delaying vaccination puts your child and those around you at risk of contracting a serious disease.

Most children with underlying medical problems can receive all the recommended vaccines. Talk to your doctor or immunisation provider if you have concerns.

Children's Immunisation Clinics

Brisbane City Council provides a free immunisation service for children to help protect them against childhood diseases such as measles, whooping cough, polio and tetanus.
