Cyber Safety Presentation

Kidz Magic will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation on Tuesday 1 October and all parents, carers and teachers are encouraged to attend.

ThinkUKnow Australia is a cyber safety education program that educates parents, carers and teachers of how people are using technology, the challenges they may face online, and how to help them overcome these in a safe and ethical way.

ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners Queensland Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.

The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation covers issues relating to children and young peoples' privacy and security online, their relationships with other users and their online reputation. It provides insight into the devices young people are using, as well as the popular websites, apps and social networking sites they're accessing.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.

Communication and Why we don't use Apps...

Our Educator's pride themselves on Quality Interactions with our Children and their families.

We don't want to be hurried and cease some amazing learning opportunities to complete documentation and photos. We can have 75 children per day and 16 Staff working directly with children, our focus is quality interactions with children where we can scaffold their learning, support their needs and provide comfort where needed. Our Educator's love being able to laugh, communicate and play with children, in an unhurried environment - it is this reason we choose not to have apps to provide information to our families. We don't want to be stuck behind a device.
Communication is important to us - for this reason -
*we ensure there is at least one Educator in the room on an early shift and the other on a later shift to see families
*We have daily communication on our room notice boards updating our families about what has happened during the day
*We encourage families to book parent meetings if required
*We issue transition statements in November each year
*We encourage face to face communication on drop off and pick up
*We encourage emails to check up on your child each day
*We encourage you to take the time to become familiar with our displays

Throughout the year our Educator's work tirelessly to create individual child portfolio's that our families take home at the end of each year. Remember these portfolios are individualised and are available for you to view every day.

Your children are important to us. To be present in a child's life tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today.
