Stanford Swim School will be visiting our Centre On Tuesday 10 October.

They will spend time with our Preschool children and talk about Water Safety. The Water Safety talk will commence at 10:45am.

Below is some more information about Water Safety - with the weather becoming warmer it is a great time to refresh our memory on water safety.

Water safety Pools

Drowning is the leading cause of death in Queensland for children aged 1–4 years. Teach children to swim and always supervise them when they're in the pool. New pool safety laws have been introduced to help save lives.

Beaches

The beach can be a hazardous place. Be aware of the dangers at Queensland beaches and take steps to stay safe.

Swimming in creeks, lakes, rivers and dams

Swimming in creeks, lakes, rivers and dams is fun, but there are hidden dangers, which can cause serious injuries.

Dangerous marine life

Queensland is home to some of the world's most unique, but most dangerous marine life. Learn how to minimise your risk.

Keep Kids Safe

Swimming safety

Summer's here!

But how safe is your pool?

This information provides important information about the risks swimming pools can pose for young children.

Children under 5 years of age are most at risk. Tragically, 60 children in this age group have drowned in swimming pools in Queensland in the past 12 years* (82% of all pool drownings of children aged 0-17). One and 2 year olds are most at risk (73% of children under 5 years who drowned). Drowning can be quick and quiet - young children often don't make a sound after they enter the water.

There are number of steps you can take to keep kids safe around water. These include:

  1. providing active supervision
  2. installing and maintaining a compliant pool fence
  3. teaching kids water safety awareness
  4. having an emergency action plan
