With the beautiful weather at the moment, we have all be taking advantage of our beautiful outside spaces. We have been enjoying both morning tea and afternoon tea outside and the children are loving having picnics.

This month the children have been involved with plenty of learning and exciting activities.

We celebrated science week Little Darlings and there were so many fun activities in all the rooms. The children learned about sinking and floating objects, magnets, and also had fun making a volcano in the sand pit. One class loved making a lava lamp with oil and water, as well as doing an experiment with air pressure to inflate a balloon. Some of the older children did a very fun experiment with skittles and mixing the colours as well as a magic milk experiment. The whole week was great fun.

This month, we also celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children Day. The preschool, senior and junior kindy classes joined in the celebration of singing some First Nation songs and listening to dreamtime stories. The teachers and children together made some seed shakers instruments using bottle tops.

This week we have been celebrating book week, and what a wonderful week we have been having. There have been many exciting and fun activities. The children have been bringing their favourite books in to kindy to share with their teachers and friends. Many children dressed up as their favourite characters, and it was also fun to see the teachers also dress up of characters from their favourite books. The preschool children went on an excursion to Upper Mount Gravatt school and participated in their book week parade. The children paraded their costumes on stage and Ethan won the best dressed competition run by the school. The senior kindy children loved the story of the Bears' Picnic and had their very own teddy's picnic and also enjoyed many activities of the story of Goldilocks and the Three bears. The junior kindy children loved the story of The Elves and The Shoe Maker and Jack and the Beanstalk and also loved making porridge like the one goldilocks ate. Our toddlers and nursery children loved the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar.

We all want to say a big congratulations to Mymy who has been at Little Darlings for 10 years!!! What a magnificent milestone and we are so grateful for the wonderful care and love you give every day. Every child at the centre loves you and we are so appreciative of your hard work, dedication and service to our centre.
