We would love to extend a very warm welcome to all the new families who have started at the centre over the last month. It is so wonderful getting to know you all and we are very excited to have you as part of our family here at Little Darlings.

The staff have been very busy settling the children into their routines and planning many fun learning experiences as well as setting many goals for their learning and development.

Last week, we had a visit from the wonderful staff at Advanced Dental Care. The Dentist and a tooth fairy came to visit the children and educate the children on dental hygiene as well as eating healthy foods. The children were very excited to participate in this exciting demonstration and also learn valuable lessons.

Last week, we also hosted the Early Years Learning network meeting, where centres from around the area as well as Upper Mount Gravatt prep staff all came together to discuss goals and share ideas. This is something we are involved in regularly, to continue our knowledge also. We discussed how the school can support us with transitioning the children to schools and vice versa. We also talked about transition statements and helping children who may need extra support in their transition to school.

Yesterday we all celebrated the Holi festival. This is a celebration of colour. It is to celebrate the beginning of the new season and also new beginnings. Happy Holi to all those celebrating this week.

XAP Notices:

  • Please remember to sign your children in and out every day on the kiosk. This is especially important for families on session times eg 10-hour session. Not signing out in the afternoons or dropping off before or after your allocated hours, will incur and additional charge. Please see Chrisanne if you have any issues with your session times, for those families who are on sessions.
  • Please ensure all of your details are updated in Xap eg contact details, authorised pickups, as well as direct debit details
  • Please always check your Xap email on a Monday to see your statement for the week ahead. This will clearly let you know what amount is being deducted on what day. Don't forget that these deductions always happen at around 1:00am, so if your allocated day is a Wednesday, make sure the finds are ready to clear on Tuesday night, and this will prevent the transaction bouncing.
  • If you are not able to access Xap, please let me know and we can help you to get set up, as this is a great tool for communication.
  • If your child is unwell, please go onto your Xap account and mark as absent.

General notices

  • Please bring a hat, water bottle, sheets and change of clothes daily for your child.
  • Please name all your child's belongings
  • Please ensure that you apply sunscreen on your child each morning before bringing them outside. There is sunscreen in every room, as well as on the top of the ramp.

Thank you also to the parents who have written emails to complement the staff or our centre. I love receiving these special emails and sharing them with our staff. We love to feel appreciated and know that we are making a difference in your everyday lives. If you get a chance, please share your positive experiences on Google Review as this would be greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to come and see me any time with queries or questions and know you are always welcome at any time for a chat.
