January Newsletter 2022

Welcome to our January 2022 Newsletter

A huge welcome to all our existing and new families. It is hard to believe that we are almost in February and 2022 seems to be passing by faster than 2021.

I am looking forward to an exciting new year, filled with lots of activities and learning opportunities for the children. The staff is already in full swing with the delivery of the EYLF and Kindergarten program.

Our centre has been recommended to a lot of new families. A huge thank you for the recommendations and your trust in us. Word of mouth is the best advertisement, and we are forever grateful. It has been wonderful to get to know your children and we look forward to a fantastic year. Their stay at "Little Darlings" will be a memorable and exciting one.

Our educators have been doing a great job of settling our new children, making families feel comfortable and secure, so I would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication, which promotes consistency and continuity for both the educators and the beautiful children who we care for.

I would like to inform my families that we are always open to input. If you have any fantastic ideas in relating to programming, the environment, welfare or the children-we are here to listen!! Families can contribute to our programming by engaging in the program itself. We also love

Nursery

Hi everyone,

Nursery is always busy, more so now towards the beginning of the year, as we have had a few babies come to join our group. Also, a few of our children are moving up to Toddlers Room.

The activities in the room are always to enhance the children's motor skills, social, emotional, cognitive, and language, to mention a few. Some of our activities are outdoor play, water play, bathing dolls, and bubbles. Please bring some extra clothes as from time to time we do get a bit wet.

It's been really, really lovely getting to know you and your beautiful children! Most of the children are settling in really well. There are a couple who are finding it hard wanting to play at Little Darlings AND to be with Mum and Dad at the same time, but they are settling and feeling comfortable with each passing session. Thank you all for helping to make the separation and transition easier by encouraging your child to find an activity to get involved in and then saying goodbye.

Thank you for your support and have a great Year.

Until Next time,

Miss.Jovelyn, Miss.Cecilia

Toddlers

To all our Toddler Families,

Welcome to the Toddler room. It has been filled with amazing discoveries, experiences, which have enhanced our many skills.

Currently, we have been concentrating on making Chinese New Year crafts to decorate our room and to show our fine motor skills. Our activities were collage, drawing, and painting using various colours and equipment. The children are settling well and exploring the playroom. They are enjoying lots of sensory experiences with water, sand, play dough, and touch and feel books.

We have crossed a few milestones and drinking out of Sippy cups instead of baby milk bottles. We have had great fun, learning from each other, how to get along, treating our friends with respect, and understanding each other's feelings. We endeavour to offer and create activities that promote the children's fine, gross motor, and social skills.

We appreciate your support throughout the year and hope to continue this relationship this year.

See you next time, bye for now,

Miss. Anu, Miss. Muditha

Junior Kindy

Good day to all,

Hello to all of the Junior Kindy Families and thank you for all that you do and the support you give throughout the year. We have been working hard on settling into our room, especially with our new families commencing, ensuring that children feel safe and welcomed in their new environment.

Working out the routine knots has been challenging but we thank all our parents for their patience and co-operation. Currently, we are focusing on Chinese New Year activities and will be gradually focusing on our early literacy and numeracy activities.

Toilet training is an important developmental milestone for children. Some of the children have slowly commenced toilet training. To encourage self-help skills, children are asked to put their belongings away in lockers and put their shoes and hats on. These are encouraged daily.

We hope all of the families and children can celebrate this wonderful journey with us.

Until then,

Miss.Krish, Miss. Balli, Miss.Raisa

Senior Kindy

Welcome to Senior Kindy,

As always, new year, a new room, new routines, and all the children are getting the hang of all things new in the room.

We have introduced many regular routines and expectations and the ability to do so in the smaller groups has allowed for greater individual scaffolding and discussion around these routines. The children are participating so well in these.

The past few weeks have been full of learning, social interactions, and play. The children are referring to one another by name and many have begun to form friendships and play with one another. The children have settled really well. Miss. Zam and I have formed relationships and have earned much of their trust and we will continue building on this.

Senior Kindy Children are very responsive to all learning experiences. They each have their own skills, where we strive to enhance them, allowing room for improvement, guidance, and building their confidence.

Currently, we are working on our Chinese New Year crafts and bundling a lot of our artwork to take home. This is to show our families, what we have been doing for the whole year.

Thanking you,

Miss. Charu, Miss. Zam

Pre-School

Hello from Preschool

The preschool room is buzzing with children, eager to learn. However, this year we have a very young class and the children have to master a lot of new rules in this room. Our aim is, by the end of the year, the children should become self-sufficient, confident, social, and resilient little people, ready to take challenges of being part of a school environment. There are many other skills that children will acquire i.e letter & number recognition, phonics, formation, leading onto reading and writing skills. As the year progresses, we will keep you updated with many of the Pre-school activities that take place.

For those of you joining our Preschool for the first year, we warmly welcome you to our community. We are sure that we will get to know you as the year rolls on as there will be many opportunities to do so. For those of you returning with your child or children in 2022, We also extend our welcome and thanks for making our preschool what it is. Me and Ms. Jothi would be endeavoured to accomplish this journey.

Pre-school is a place for a child to prepare to go to prep. Starting school is a big change for you and your child and family. Families play a significant role in supporting the transition to school. Here are a few tips for supporting your child:

Be ready to support your child

Starting Prep is exciting. Talk with your child about how they are feeling and answer any questions they might have.

Get Involved before Prep starts

Having a friend can help when starting school. Visit our centre events, meet other families, and set up a play date before school starts

Confident count

Confidence helps children to ask for help, make new friends, and enjoy their time at school. Help your child get to know their new teacher and school. Talk together about what Prep will be like.

Encourage your child's independence

Independence supports children to join in at school. Help your child practice putting their shoes and socks on, taking them off, tying their shoelaces, and using their lunchbox by themselves.

Make time to talk, rest and play

Prep is busy and full of new and exciting things to learn and do. Making time for children to rest, play, and talk about school supports their health and well-being.

Thank you for your support and assistance,

Miss.April, Miss.Jothi

A few reminders: -

Labelling

We are finding that a lot of the children's items are not named which makes it very difficult to place them in the right bag for the right child. Please make sure that you name all your child's clothing items, milk bottles, water bottles, sippy cups, shoes, etc.

Staff/Parent Conversations

We look forward to chatting with you throughout the year about any concerns, news to share, and especially feedback about the program. We really appreciate and look forward to your feedback and hearing what your child has told you about Little Darlings!

Each month we will be profiling some staff so you can get to know them

My name is Anu and I'm the Toddler Lead Educator. I migrated from India 19 years ago, with my husband and children. My children are grown up now. While in Australia I have gained a qualification in Diploma of Early Childhood. This Year would be 10 years working in the childcare industry. I find my work extremely rewarding.

Preschool Teacher

My name is April and I started this wonderful journey of learning and exploring with kindergarten children in 2008. I graduated Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education in the Philippines. 2014 when I arrived here in Australia and became an ECT June 2015 until the present. I have two grown-up children, a 21-year-old son, and a 13-year-old daughter. I always love teaching and it started when I taught piano lessons way back when I was in the Philippines. Now it became my passion to mould children's minds and to give them the best experience that they can keep in their hearts for the rest of their lives.
