Around the Centre

On Wednesday the 15th of March, Miss Sandra heard a noise near the bins, when she looked down she discovered a long neck turtle trying to nest. The pre-schoolers came out to have a look. We took some photo's before she laid her eggs. After about 30 minutes we came back to check on her and she had covered her nest over and made her way back to the creek. We will be keeping an eye out for the next 8-10 weeks for some little hatchlings.

Nursery / Toddlers

Hello everyone and welcome to our new families.
I'd just like to say every child has settled in beautifully to our room. Thank you to all the families who have filled in and bought back their child's 'hopes and dreams' forms and family trees. It's great to be able to work together and advocate the children's learning. Wow it's march already! The last month and this month we have been focussing on supporting the children's independence and encouraging them to self-regulate their own emotions. The children are all doing well and feel safe, secure and supported. As it's almost Easter time, we are about to start our Easter crafts and celebrations. If you have any family traditions at Easter, you'd like us to incorporate over this time in the curriculum please let us know.
The babies are enjoying investigating and explore their environment with tummy time on the mats and playing with various sensory toys and objects. The toddies are learning to extend and enhance their vocabulary and language development by word play, picture books and action songs. Please ensure all your children's belongings are clearly named. Don't forget you need to bring a hat, drink bottle and a fitted and flat sheet. If you have any concerns or queries, please don't hesitate to chat with us. Thanks for reading, until next time...

Kindy News

To our families,
Wow! 2017 is zooming by. The children in the Kindy room will be creating presents for Easter soon. The children's responsiveness towards the Kindy Room curriculum has provided opportunities to promote the 5 Learning Outcomes and acknowledge individual/group interests within social learning contexts. The children have been developing positive self-identities within our Name Recognition and Circle of friend's experiences which promote 'ME' concepts and supports social collaborative play opportunities. We intentionally integrate different aspects of learning through holistic perspectives to promote children's potential learning and development. We integrate learning experiences and play activities relating to Language/Literacy, Numeracy, Music/Movement, Artistic/creative activities and dramatic/imaginative play to support individual children's sense of agency and creativity. We have been promoting the Alphabet, numbers and colours within our program.
The children's responsiveness towards our intentional teaching strategies relating to sensory exploration with sensory bottles has provided opportunities to explore sensory dispositions as well as problem-solving skills and creativity with open-ended resources. We intentionally program repetitive experiences to provide opportunities for children to explore new concepts and co-construct their own learning –making connections between familiar experiences and newly-introduced perspectives. Thank you to all of our families who have provided a Family tree for our family Diversity display. A family photo would be on an extra special way to support your child's sense of identity and belonging. We would appreciate your family contributions please.
Thank you
Miss Sharon and Miss Donna :)

Pre-Prep News

I'd like to start with a big welcome to all the new families joining us in the Pre-Prep room this year. We are already off to a great start mainly starting with some revision of our colour, shape, number and letter recognition. This is helping us to keep this knowledge fresh in our brains and give our teachers an idea of where to go next with our learning experiences. We have also started learning a bit about the weather, the seasons, the days of the week and some letter sounds (phonics).

Over the next couple of months, along with a range of learning and play experiences, we will be involved in some multi-cultural and religious events. These will include, Harmony Day and Easter. So please keep an eye out for notices and posters informing you of these days. I'm going to be away from the 18th April until 19th of May, as I am studying my bachelor of Early Education and this requires me to undertake practical placement at a State School. While I am away Miss Maria will step up a Lead Educator along with Miss Sandra as the Assistant.

Thank-you!
Miss Laura and Miss Maria
