Mini Mees August Newsletter 2017

From the Office

Wow I can't believe we are already in August and heading into September.

A big thank you to those families that ordered pies from our pie drive.  We raised enough money to purchase a new bike for the children.

Around the Centre

We have had an eventful month, with much more to follow.

The children enjoyed watching Magic Mike the magician, with his tricks and turning Miss Sharon into a rabbit.

Our Centre grown pineapple

Our 6th pineapple was finally ready to pick.  The Kindy children had fun helping gather the pineapple, learn more about them and then taste it and start the process again.  They even made masks to celebrate our achievements with the pineapple.  Once cut everyone in the centre got to taste it.

It was so sweet.

Family Portraits

Family Portrait Fundraiser Saturday 9th September Dear Parents and Friends,
On Saturday 9th September our centre will be participating in a family portrait fundraiser with Border Studios. Their professional photographer will photograph your family and you will receive a beautiful 10x13 inch canvas portrait, gallery wrapped and ready to hang (usually $60) for only $25! The centre retains a generous commission from each sitting fee. If you prefer a traditional photographic portrait, one can be substituted for only $15. This is an excellent opportunity to raise valuable funds for the centre whilst receiving memorable family portraits.

There are a huge selection of optional packages and prints available for purchase on the day, including large canvas upgrades, and all of their print packages include a photo CD!

The portraits will be held at IDP Studios space, 8-14 St Jude Court, Browns Plains. Appointments will be available from 9am. To secure your booking please visit

Tips for getting the most out of your portraits:

  • Wear bold block colours as they look best, especially blue, pink, turquoise, green, denim, white, or black.
  • Avoid busy patterns, singlets, short skirts for women and girls or shorts for men.
  • Decide on the style of portrait you prefer when selecting clothes. Formal? Casual? Fun?
  • Consider bringing along props which reflect the interests of your family such as musical instruments, sports equipment, team jerseys or favourite toys.
Consider including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins or even a beloved pet (make sure you check with your coordinator before bringing along your pets).

A few points to remember:

  • No child or adult may appear in more than one $25 or $15 "Special Offer" portrait.
  • The $25 portrait pose must be chosen on the day of photography but does NOT need to consist of two generations
  • Your $25 or $15 must be paid before your booking can be confirmed
Each family may have only one "Special Offer" portrait, but can purchase any number of additional prints.
