November Newsletter

Welcome to the November Newsletter.

We are nearly at that time of year again........... Christmas.

We have lots planned for the children.

Christmas Celebration Week

We will be having a week of Christmas Celebrations starting on Monday the 11th of December and concluding on Friday the 15th of December.  Every day will be something different so no child will miss out. Permission slips will be in children's pockets closer to the date.

Monday 11th – Movie day (watching Christmas Movies)

Tuesday 12th –  Jumping Castle

Wednesday 13th – Christmas Lunch along with a visit from Santa

Thursday 14th - Water Play day (please bring togs, towel and a change of clothes) along with a colour run.

Friday 15th – dress up disco

The children can come to Mini Mees Dressed up if they wish. There will also be arts and crafts throughout the week for all the children to participate.

Pre-prep Graduation

The Pre-prep graduation was held on November the 15th.  The children looked so grown up, and ready for school.  It has been a pleasure to watch the pre-preps grow into confident, well adjusted children. It is also a little sad as they will be going to BIG school and out into those big open playgrounds.  I'am sure they will be just fine and use the tools they have learnt through being here at Mini Mees.

Christmas Hamper

Thank you to the families and staff that have donated to our hamper that is in the foyer.  This Hamper will go to a disadvantaged family in Logan.

We will be also collecting for our Christmas Hamper.  Raffle tickets will be placed in your child's pocket in the next week.  This will be drawn on Friday the 15th of November.

Prizes will consist of a hamper, lolly jars, a gift voucher and an ice bucket with some alcohol.

Nursery/Toddler News

Nursery news letter 20.11.17

Hello to our families and our new family who started last week.

Wow where has this year gone, it's almost Christmas time!

The children have been doing a great job being creative getting our Christmas crafts started and decorating the room was lots of fun. The children explored the tinsel and Christmas ball balls. If you have any special family traditions you would like me to include in our curriculum or share with us please let me know ?

Over the last couple of months we have been focusing on supporting the children's independence and encouraging them to self regulate their own emotions. The children have been learning empathy towards their friends and sharing behaviours. As part of supporting the children's independence they have been transiting sitting at the big table for meal times and learning to follow simple instructions such as "going and getting their own shoes and hats" and learning to put them on. The children have been responding very well to the transitions. They are all very clever.

Lots of chatter has been happening in our room lately, the children are getting older and expresses themselves more vocally. The toddies are learning to extend and enhance their vocabulary and language development by word play, picture books and action songs.

Please remember to check your child's communicated book as I write in there everyday ?

Thanks for reading, until next time...

Miss Hannah

Kindy News

To our families ?

WOW! 2017 has zoomed by so very fast! 2017 has been another year of memories and we have been capturing many of these moments with photos. We will be organising photo presents for every childs' family for Christmas. We have also been compiling Portfolios for every child to share their learning through play experiences. The children have been enthusiastically creating Christmas artwork as part of their present for their family. What a fun way to finish off the year.

Throughout the year we have intentionally integrated learning experiences and play activities to create contexts for learning and development relating to the 5 Learning Outcomes.

The Kindy Room curriculum reflects a child centred approach by acknowledging individual childrens' interests and ideas as well as group play preferences.

We advocate 'A spontaneous moment is a teachable moment' by acknowledging child initiated experiences and providing meaningful scaffolding opportunities.

The childrens' responsiveness towards our learning experiences and play activities relating to Language Literacy and Numeracy, Sensory Exploration, Circle of friends, Art/Craft, Music/Movement, ME concepts/Name Recognition, Dramatic/Imaginative play and Environmental perspectives-Worm Farm/Gardening has provided opportunities to co-construct their own learning through independent and collaborative experiences.

Thankyou to all of our families who have contributed towards our 'Sharing Information with Families' and 'Family Input' communication processes throughout the year. This has supported your childs' connections between Home and Centre as well as supporting their sense of Belonging, Being and Becoming.

It has been a personal and professional privilege to have been a part of your childs' learning, growth and development throughout the years. Thankyou.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a 'Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year'

❤️ Miss Sharon and Miss Sandra

Best wishes Take care ?

Pre-prep News

It's hard to believe the end of the year is just around the corner already!

We've had an amazing year in the Pre-Prep Room, filled with lots of laughter, fun and learning. We've all come such a long way, developing in many ways and reaching so many new milestones.

Recently we have been involved in Halloween, Melbourne Cup and Graduation celebrations, along with our usual classroom activities and experiences. With Christmas just around the corner we are all eagerly awaiting our centre festivities.

We want to say thank-you to each of the families at Mini Mees for making this year so great - it wouldn't have been the same without all the fabulous families being involved. We'd also like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Good luck to all the kids going off to school next year! We hope to keep in touch and hear about all the wonderful things you'll be doing.

Until next time,

Miss Laura and Miss Maria
