Welcome to 2020!

Hello families and welcome to 2020. We trust you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year break. It is wonderful to see our children's smiling faces returning over the last few weeks. and hearing about all of their fabulous holiday adventures.

We have been busy organising and setting up our rooms for the beginning of term one. We are all very excited to be starting a new year and a new decade with all of you. New room staff are organising their information ready for Parent Information night on Monday 3rd February at 6.15 pm. We encourage as many of you to come along as possible so we can share some information with you about our centre, staff and room goals for 2020. Our rooms all work a little differently to each other so it is very important that you are aware of routines, expectations and curriculum changes. Please ensure you are communicating with your children's room staff, especially at this time of year when they are transitioning. Our staff are all very approachable and accommodating to the needs of your children.

Our staff have been putting in a lot of time and effort to assist children in transitioning to new rooms. Sometimes this can be daunting for both children and parents(especially in the younger rooms) however we ask that you do trust our staff and we work together to help the children's transition be a smooth one. We are more than willing to provide parents with information to assist the transitions at home as well if this is required. Our most common difficult transitions are those from Nursery to Toddlers and from Junior Kindy to Senior Kindy as the routines and curriculum in these rooms change quite dramatically. When parents and staff work as a team on this though we can help the children adjust more comfortably.

Our Calendar of Events is currently being created and this should be out to parents next week displaying all of our fun events throughout the year. In the meantime here are a few upcoming events within the centre:

Monday 3rd February-Parent Information evening at 6.15 pm

Friday 14th February - Valentines Day- wear red

Tuesday 25th February-Teddy Bears Picnic. Bring along your favourite teddy.

Friendly Reminders:

Breakfast: Our breakfast policy outlines times for breakfast within the centre. Staff will serve children breakfast up until 7.30 am. After this time we are unable to serve breakfast due to the number of children arriving and curriculums being put into place. Please ensure if your child is arriving after 7.30am that they have already had their breakfast. Morning tea usually begins from 8.45 am-9 am so if children have missed breakfast in the morning rest assured we will be offering them food at this time.

Late afternoon Tea: For those of you with children at the centre after 5pm we request that you send in a non-refrigerated snack for them for late afternoon tea. These are placed into our containers located in the room kitchens.

Fees: Please be reminded that we have a zero debt policy that requires your fees to be up to date and one week in advance at all times. We encourage parents to inform us immediately if you have a change in bank account or credit card as Direct Success will charge a fee of $14.95 for any declined payments. While we understand that sometimes we all hit a rough patch we do need you to communicate with us and organise a payment plan if one of your payments declines. Please also keep an eye on your statements and your CCSS payments. There has been a lot of government reconciling over the past months which is causing arrears.

Important Announcement regarding coronavirus

We understand that this is a very serious and worrying issue and advise everyone to be alert and up to date with information.

Health authorities across the country are continuing to respond to cases in Australia of the coronavirus that originated in China.

The Queensland Chief Health Officer has updated advice on novel coronavirus as follows:

anyone who has been in contact with any confirmed novel coronavirus cases must self-isolate (self-isolation means staying at home and not accepting visitors) for 14 days following exposure
travellers who have visited Hubei Province of China need to self-isolate for 14 days after leaving Hubei Province
returned travellers who have visited China including Hong Kong SAR cannot attend school, childcare or TAFE for 14 days after leaving China including Hong Kong SAR.
Our service always follows the advice of public health authorities in these circumstances and we thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
