From the Office

Hello families and welcome to July!

We are in full Queensland winter swing with some chilly mornings and afternoons and bright winter sunshiny days. The rain has been a welcome addition to help green up our environment.

Staffing: We welcome Miss Amy to our team this month. Amy will be our new cook and we are looking forward to having her whip up some yummy meals.. Our staff have been doing a great job over the past month but we are all ready to hand the kitchen over to Amy.

Assessment and Rating. We are currently preparing for our Assesment and Rating Process. Education and Care services are assessed and rated by their state and territory regulatory authority. We are assessed on the 7 quality areas of the National Quality Standard. These areas are outlined in the following link

The following tables outline the national quality rating and assessment process for evaluation of services against the National Quality Standards and the National Regulations. It is designed to be a cooperative process with opportunities for services to discuss how they are meeting the National Quality Standards and enhancing outcomes for children. The timeframes reflect the approximate period of time involved in each step.

As you may have noticed we have these areas outlined in our front foyer and we appreciate your input into our performance by noting any suggestions and feedback on our NQS sheets.

During our Assessment days you may notice an officer of the Early Childhood Education office present on the premises.

Whats been happening!

The children have been helping to create our new garden area now that our yard renovations are complete. There has been a lot of discussions, planning and planting. All of our rooms have become very involved in their gardening projects. Our worm farm is also thriving-ready to add to our garden as fertiliser. The children have been learning about these processes and learning about sustainable practices.

Miss Kelly would like to personally thank everyone for coming along to celebrate her cultural background on 4th July. We had an awesome party with some great costumes and tasty meals.

NAIDOC week saw the children immersing themselves into our Indigenous culture with some interesting educational experiences. We are continuing to follow our interest in learning more about our first peoples. For those of you who don't know- our land on which our centre stands is Yuggera land and we pay respect to traditional owners of our land, their elders past present and future. Our children have been learning some Yuggera language in their programs and have been busy planning to create our own Aboriginal Humpy for our front foyer.

Our Teddy bears picnic day was also very successful and full of love and cuddles for our favourite soft toy friends.

School photos should be back soon. Stay tuned for more information. As mentioned previously-there is an online order option for families. Once we have all of the login details we will pass these onto families.
