Cannon-Hill-ELC

From the Office

Welcome everyone to our half yearly newsletter. Over the past month we have been extremely busy organizing our new Facebook page and website. For those of you who have not liked our page please follow us on facebook here :) We will be regularly posting notices and the children's experiences on our pages so they are easy for you to view.

Staffing

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Miss Sarah Harvey who is leaving to fulfil her study commitments and teaching career. We wish her all the best in her endeavours and will miss her dearly.

Miss Melissa will be stepping into the role of Assistant Director of the centre.

Miss Gordana will be returning to the centre at the beginning of July after recovering from hip surgery. We cant wait to have her back!

We also welcome Miss Deep to a permanent part time role in the centre as assistant educator. Deep has been with us for a while now as a casual relief staff member.

Upcoming Events

July 2nd-7th is NAIDOC week. NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Celebrations are held nationally to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people. This is a time for extension of this cultural observance so please feel free to ask your teachers about their plans for this week.

Centre Disco-14th July. Our annual centre disco is fast approaching. Ticket order forms have been sent out in children's pockets. If you would like your child to attend please return your form and payment to Mickey's post box at the front counter. Your child will then be issued with a VIP pass for the night. $5 entry includes hotdog, drink and ice block as well.

Donations

Thankyou to everyone who donated to the Make a Difference Brisbane Winter appeal. We were able to donate a whole boxful of items that will be distributed directly to Brisbane's homeless. We still have our Share the Dignity box in the foyer for your sanitary donations for Brisbane's homeless women.

Our children have been very active in creating with recycled materials lately and our front foyer collection boxes have been running low. Please bring in your empty boxes, containers, cartons and bottles so we can continue to create some amazing things. We also love utensils as we can use these for may different purposes such as musical instruments, role play and artwork.

AND.....we never say no to paper of any kind!

Friendly Reminders

Please ensure you are signing your children in and out on our tablets everyday. If the tablets are not working then please inform the staff on duty so they can mark them off on the roll.

We would also like to remind parents that we have food and nutrition requirements. Please refrain from sending chocolates and lolly type food in your child's lunchbox. We also ask that flavoured milks and juices be kept for consumption at home. Our drinks within the centre are plain milk and water.

Until Next Month,  stay safe and enjoy the school holidays.
