We will be hosting a show on Thursday the 10th October, this will be at no cost to the parents.

The "Ocean Life Discovery Program" is an interactive touch and learn program that introduces children to creatures from the ocean. Marine creatures the children can touch and artefacts like shark jaws create excitement, while teaching the important message of caring for our environment. If you wish for your child to Not attend please let staff know prior to Thursday. The program details are below.

Toddler and Junior Kindy  – 20-30 mins starting at 9.30am

This interactive touch and learn session introduces children to creatures from the ocean. There are marine creatures for the children to touch as well as shells and pictures to look at. Children will discover:
• Animals have colours, patterns, shapes and textures.
• Handling and care of live animals by following simple instruction.
• Shells are protective houses once used by living marine creatures
• Marine animals look & feel different for a reason.
• The importance of caring for these animals.
• Animals breathe & exist under water.
• Weird sea creatures have mouths, stomachs and legs like humans, but they are very different in appearance.

Discovery Program Senior Kindy and Preschool – 40 mins Starting at 10am

This program offers a greater depth of information about creatures from the ocean. There are marine creatures for children to touch and amazing artifacts such as shark jaws and teeth, which create excitement and understanding. Conservation is introduced and the importance of caring for the environment for the future. Beginning concepts of grouping animals (classification) and the role animals play in the marine environment and their relationship with other animals (ecology) is explored.
This child responsive experience will answer questions such as:
• Why is a sea star not a starfish and how do they eat?
• How can you tell what sharks eat, just by looking at their teeth?
• How do sea urchins help keep the sea clean?
• What might happen if you drop a plastic bag on the ground?
• How do marine animals protect themselves?
Some things I might learn
• A starfish isn't a fish at all – now we call them sea stars. They are rough and spiky on top and a little squishy underneath where their tube feet are.
• Sea urchins don't like being upside down and turn themselves back over using their spikes.
• Tropical sea cucumbers have red stripes to say 'Stop!' I'm poison, don't eat me. They are spongy and soft.
• Lots of sea creatures use 'camouflage' for protection.
• Sea cucumbers eat sand off the bottom of the ocean, keeping it clean.
• Some sea stars shoot their stomachs out to catch food.
• It's up to all of us to look after our ocean, to help all the sea creatures survive and do their special job in maintaining the marine environment.

We cant wait to see you all there!
