Cleveland Early Learning Centre has turned ONE! We are celebrating this milestone with the children by hosting a Bollywood themed disco and mini market night on Friday October 25th from 5.30pm-7pm.

We would love as many of our families to come to this event and celebrate with us.

Seaton Place Aged  Care Visit

The residents of Seaton Aged Care Home visited our service last Friday. The Kindergarten and Pre Kindy children participated in a morning filled with singing and playing musical instruments, listening to a story and joining in with craft, puzzles and play dough with their new older friends.

We felt so privileged to have the residents from the aged care spend time with our children. It was lovely to see the  two age groups interact together.

This will be a regular event at the centre on the 2nd Friday of the month. We hope to have our younger children visit with them next time.

Monthly Policy Review.

Our policy for review this month is  Cultural, Diversity and Anti Bias Policy.

Please read through this policy and provide any feedback you may have.

 September Newsletter 2019

This month the children covered a variety of experiences. They are particularly enjoying the outdoor environment where they are able to move and develop their gross motor skills. The children are using their imagination and team building skills to create smaller play spaces within their environment.Arts and crafts are also popular with the children, extending on their own interests. An art station has been set up on the veranda for the children to utilise, creating their master pieces in both the indoor and outdoor environments.

This month has seen a few different days, which have given educators the opportunity to discuss their meaning. R U Ok day provided me an opportunity to discuss with the children their feeling and how it is ok to feel sad. I expressed how important it was to talk to a friend or trusted adult if they are feeling sad, as we are able to find ways to support them.

Book week was a big hit within the centre. This was to celebrate the end of the redit program, a program we did in conjunction with Cleveland State School. The children enjoyed dressing up, reading their favourite stories and making their very own book marks.

National Talk like a pirate day was a day filled with many fun experiences. The children created treasure maps, on the search for gold. Face paint allowed the children to disguise themselves with eye patches and scars.

Welcome to the Pre Kindy newsletter.

Welcome to our new families we hope you enjoy your time with us and your children blossom in our care here at Cleveland Early Learning and Pre Kindy family.

There has been a lot happening over the past month in the Pre Kindy where we celebrated cultural and social events. The staff and children have enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters for book week. Our program focused on literacy and stories for the week where we looked at two favourite stories " Bear Hunt story and Billy Goats Gruff story".We then extending this learning by re-enacting these stories through Construction blocks and went on our very own Bear Hunt. This month Pre Kindy children also went for another visit to the Cleveland Library excursion. Again so proud of all the children as they did so well walking to and from the library and showing an understanding of road safety. We also celebrated "Talk like a Pirate Day this month where the children had the opportunity to dress ups as Pirates and engaged in activities that celebrate this events.

The children have been very engaged , enthusiastic learners and participants in variety of activities and experiences. This month we focused on extending the children's learning in experimenting science including sand volcano and diet coke and mentos. The children loving the science experiment that have reaction.

 The Early Learners

Welcome to the Early Learners

What a fantastic Month in the Early Learners, we welcomed some new friends into our class this past month, Denver, Jaxson Lachlan, Jessica and Konstantin. Transitioning from the Toddlers room we welcome Archer, Laila and Miro. Welcome families and friends we look forward to watching our new little people grow and learn with us.

Book week was our focus, reading stories, role play and having a centre celebration. The children dressed in their favourite character or story.

This past month the children have been focusing on one of their favourite books,

Where is the Green Sheep? The children got the opportunity borrow our story and take it home to read to their families. Together the children created their own story of The Green Sheep using arts and crafts.

Next month we will be focusing our culture and backgrounds. Families please feel free share any celebrations or special occasions would like to add to our program.

Reminder to label our children's clothing, as the weather is warming up our children will be enjoying water play and messy activities.

It has been a busy month in the Toddler Room, with many of our friends beginning the process of toilet training. This is a very exciting time for our Toddlers as they learn to sit on the toilet, use underwear, wash their hands and sense when they need to go. Amber and Joyce have been leading the team in assisting  the children with this life skill.

Christina, who has been joining in with the Toddler team, is longer working at the centre and we wish her all the best for her future endeavours..

We will be sad to see Laila leave our Toddler room as well. We will still see her though, as she is moving up to the Early Learners room now she is two!.

A few of the nursery children will be joining us in the room from next week which will be exciting.

We have been focusing on our bodies this month, learning through some fun experiences such as craft, puzzles, pretend play, and play dough. We were fascinated with how our fingers and hands could make the play dough into so many different shapes. We also have been practising holding textas to draw. We have been discovering how to look after babies, putting on nappies and feeding them. It has been very hard work!

We look forward to the month ahead with our beautiful Toddler family.
