February is now in full swing at Cleveland Early Learning Centre.

Our extracurricular activities are up and running for your little friends to enjoy.

Happy Feet Fitness

Happy Feet has a new instructor- Luke. He is a qualified dance instructor and has running Happy Feet classes for over 12 months. We welcome him to our centre. The Class is now being held on Tuesday mornings each week at 11 am. Unfortunately, this coincides with our excursions to the library some weeks. I have spoken to Luke and children that are affected will not be charged if they miss a class due to this. There are vacancies in this group if you would like your child to attend. The cost is $9.50 per class.

Grasshoppers Soccer

Grasshoppers Soccer is holding a session each Friday at 10 am. There are still a few spots available for any budding Ronaldos to join the group. The cost is $60 per term.

Dental2You

Dental2You will be visiting the centre on Thursday 12th March. This is a free service for the children if your child is eligible. Please check out the website, complete and submit the consent form directly to Dental2You from their website www.dental2you.net We will require at least 25 children to book in to go ahead.

Referral of Our Centre Incentive for Our Families

As a thank you to our existing families enrolled at our centre, we are offering two weeks fee-free if you refer a family to the service. Your referred friend must enrol at the centre for 2 days per week minimum, and be enrolled for at least 6 weeks. After the 6 weeks, you will receive 2 weeks free.

How amazing is that!!!!

Seaton Aged Care Visit

Once again we had our friends from Seaton Aged Care visit us. This time we cooked biscuits to give to them for Valentine's Day. They also had homemade gifts for the children. Together we sang songs, read We are Going On A Bear Hunt, and did Valentine's Day craft. We had so much fun chatting to our friends and enjoying each other's company. We are so lucky to have these members of our community visit us each month.

Happy Feet Fitness

The Toddler children who moved up from the Nursery room last month have been settling in nicely.

We welcome Sarah, Charlotte, Thomas, Hilton, Oliver and Lachlan. Educators have been supporting them to build up their sense of belonging and explore their new environment.

Recently the Toddlers have been interested in making crafts with sensory materials. They loved feeling the different textures with their hands and expressing their delight and their distaste! We are spending time with the toddlers, focusing on increasing their positive social and safe play. Also we have introduced painting and drawing to develop their interest and independence while practicing pencil grip.

The children have become more interested in transportation, so we have set up a transportation area for them to explore and extend on this interest. They are learning what all the different vehicles do in real life and this has introduced new words into our play, thereby increasing language skills.

We are so pleased to have Miss Ashlee working in the Toddler room permanently. At this time Ashlee is working every day except Tuesdays.

Miss Joyce and Miss Ashlee.

We would like to welcome all of our new families to our nursery community and hope that your time with us is enjoyable and rewarding.

We also welcome back our existing families and look forward to spending another year with you all.

The main focus of our program during the first term of the year is to build solid foundations for the continuing development of social and emotional resilience in children.

Children in the nursery are settling in well to the room and are developing relationships with their educators. Some children need a little extra time to settle and this is normal, don't panic, they will get there. We are here to support you and help you through it, please do not hesitate to approach us.

Babies have been enjoying throwing and rolling balls, crawling and playing in the sand, scooping and digging in the sand. Unfortunately because of this heat, we haven't been spending much time outdoors.

Children's favourite activity is water play where they have the chance to splish and splash and enjoy having different sensory activities where we can feel new textures.

We have also been singing lots of songs with the children with some of their favourites being "Open shut them", "sleeping bunnies", "the wheels on the bus" and "twinkle twinkle little star". The children are quite alert and engaged during our singing and some of the older ones are attempting to do the actions.

Having the different activities helps children to be more confident in their environment, by participating in a variety of activities, children develop and strengthen their skills such as gross and fine motor skills, sensory-motor skills, communication skills and social skills etc.

Reminders

  • Please provide a hat for your child
  • Every child needs a named water bottle every day
  • Please provide a fitted sheet and a sleep bag
  • Two to three sets of clothes for water play or any accidents
  • Please remember to name everything that comes to daycare, it is very easy to return things that are labelled, but impossible for us to remember all unnamed items.
  • I hope everyone enjoyed reading about our progress so far, until next time take care from our nursery team.
  • Makayla, Elke, and Elisa.

 Hi to all my families.

I have been settling into Kindy over the past month and have enjoyed meeting you all.

The children and I have been very busy getting to know each other and we even have ventured out together to the Library on one occasion.

This month I have been working on getting the children to know the routine in the room, and establishing room goals and room etiquette.

It has been wonderful to see our children recognise their name each morning, and recite their Acknowledgement to Country. I have been very impressed to see how well they can write their names.

Currently, we are practising our numerals 0-10 and 'a' formation, we have also started our phonics sounds to get us ready for reading.

Today we had some special guests visit us from Seaton care home and we have been on our best behaviour for our Yoga, Happy Feet and Soccer teachers too - keep up the great work!

I am looking forward to working with you all in the future.

 Pre Kindy room News

We would like to welcome you all to Pre Kindy room! Welcome back to our returning families and a big hello to all of our new families. We are very excited to have you join us! Our educators this year are Miss Mere and Miss Fiona.

We've had a great start to the year as we focused on transitioning and settling the children into their new room and routines. We have been focusing on getting to know all the children and the children to get to know us as their educators. The children are all settling and adjusting to life in the Pre Kindy room really well as they rekindle old friendships and welcome new faces to their group.

The children have all been engaged, enthusiastic learners and participants in a variety of activities and experiences. On hot days the children have loved the opportunity to explore water play. They have used many skills relating to science and math as they pour and fill, engage in experiments and used a variety of strategies in their play. Sensory play and experimenting with colours has been hugely popular with the children. We have experimenting with coloured rice, lemon sensory bin, finger paintings and coloured ice. We have also been exploring different colours through paintings, mixing 2 colours together to see what colours it produce.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to talk to us.

Until next time,

Miss Mere and Miss Fiona.

 Welcome to the Early Learners,

Miss Mandi, Miss Amber and Miss Maddie are excited to be your child's educator this year and we would like to welcome all our families to our Early Learners family.
We have been very pleased that our new friends and toddlers have transitioned comfortably into their new environment, with peers and slight change of routine.
The past month the children have been focussing on colours, each week a new colour to investigate and explore. Extending each week on with a healthy food activity and a creative arts project, as you can see around our environment. The children have been engaged in our sensory activities, using foam, rice, water, paints, goop, ice and cardboard.
We will continue to choose a colour each week and extend on our learning of healthy eating, by planting and growing our own fruits and vegetables in our garden.
