May 2023 Newsletter - Kidz Magic Capestone

Wunya Families

Welcome to May!! The year is flying by, and we are almost through Autumn. The mornings are increasingly colder so let's remember our warm clothes and shoes and socks when we are coming to kindy. Unfortunately, flu season is well upon us, and we have seen educators and children come down with illnesses recently. Keeping children home when they are unwell helps to prevent the spread of colds and flus and assists with a speedy recovery.

The colder months will bring new challenges and possible more illnesses so staying healthy is a priority here at Kidz magic Capestone.

Our Kindy Museum excursion is due at the end of May this is an exciting opportunity for our Kindy children to explore concepts and environment outside of the local community.

Happy Mother's Day to all our Mums and grandmothers, our Mother's Day morning tea was so wonderful, and it was great to share our morning with you all.

As we head into winter this month's sustainability newsletter is a reminder of why insects are important

Insects are among the most abundant and diverse groups of organisms on Earth. They live everywhere, from pristine bushland to the concreted heart of a city's CBD. Parks and gardens support hundreds if not thousands of different species.

Insects are vital to the function of ecosystems. They decompose organic matter, recycle nutrients, contribute to soil formation and pollinate the flowers and spread the seeds of many plants. They are also food for many other groups of animals. Only a very small percentage of insect species are troublesome or destructive pests.

Miss Laura Chapman

Hello to all our beautiful families in Nursery 2.

It's our newsletter for May. More than a quarter of the year passes by and yet we have witnessed all your little ones growing so much with their milestones.

This month we're focusing on each skill, interest, and knowledge through their daily activities.

As well we were encouraging their language and social skills at the same time.

We are all educators at Nursery 2 so proud and happy to see each day our little friends be able to start to interact within small or whole group experiences where sometimes starting using their language or proper words or sentences were implemented as well.

And I have noticed as well lately that our little friends starting to appreciate our indoor and outdoor resources by packing away by the end of activities together with the educators, well-done everyone.

We would also like to thank the families for their warm welcome and daily hello's to Miss Clare who joined Nursery this month.

Just a little reminder to name your little one's belonging, bring two spares of set clothes, and being a clean water bottle each day.

Until next time take care,

Nursery 2,

Ms. Yefi, Ms. Clare, Ms. Pooja, and Ms. Sushma

Wunya families and friends and welcome to the Pre Kindergarten newsletter for May.

This month saw us finish off the pre writing shapes and move into the alphabet, specifically with A and B. The children and educators discovered words that started phonetically with those 2 letters and took turns practicing the pre writing shapes that make up the letters. Taking a week on each letter helps with the repetition of earning, ensuring every child has a turn and is engaged in learning and assists in letter recognition.

We welcomed Mums and family into our room for some lovely Mothers Day activities.

Miss Mariela has been working on recycling, making all sorts of wonderful items out of these materials, for example, the children put together their own cameras! Working with this media also gave us a chance to use scissors more efficiently, as the children needed to cut out their own decorations and embellishments. Miss Mariela has continued with her Spanish lessons. The children are even calling each other amigo/amiga!

Miss tabi has been working on environments and animals, with the children learning about different animals, mountains, islands etc in Iran. Alongside this the children have been learning a counting song in Farsi.

We welcomed Miss Anusha into our room, and she has been working on colours and the correlation of colour and food.

Miss Liv has been working on shapes and in particular allowing the children to make their own geometric shapes with paper and tape and then decorating/painting and taking the tape off to see the shapes.

Lastly we have moved on to Sorry Day with the children learning about the Stolen generation and reflecting on their own families and homes.

Thank you,

Miss Amy, Miss Mariela, Miss Tabi, Miss Anusha and Miss Charmaine.

Welcome to May in Kindergarten1! This month we enjoyed Simultaneous Story time! We were one of many kindergarten classrooms around Australia listening to the story called the Speedy Sloth. At 11am all participating kindergartens and schools came together to hear a live broadcast of the author reading the story from Sydney Zoo!We learnt all about sloths and their habitats and then enjoyed some sloth art.

Our focus letter sounds this month have been c and u. We ate learning to listen to the sound these letters make then position our mouths, tongues and lips to produce the sounds. We have also been writing some letter shapes and cutting with scissors to cut out basic shapes and snip along lines.

Our learning focus on 1:1 correspondence has been lots of fun using loose parts and hands on mathematical equipment to count and tap from 1 to 10. As a group we also looked at colour recognition and matching, searching for colours in our classroom environment.

It was lovely to welcome our doors open for our Mum's during our Mother's day morning. We performed some songs especially for our mums and enjoyed making special treats for them!

Wunya Families,

We have had a very busy month of growth and learning. We have begun our show and share roster, the children are loving this. Show and Share is wonderful for boosting the children's confidence, voice projection and reciprocal conversation skills. Please continue to send an item with your child on their allocated day and please ensure this starts with our corresponding letter of the week. We have begun our family heritage group project, if you haven't sent through your family heritage yet, please email this to Miss Sarah so your child can contribute to this. It will open up wonderful conversations about culture and diversity. We have our QLD Museum excursion coming up on Wednesday the 7th of June. Wednesday families, please keep an eye on emails for further communication around this.

Thank you

The Kindy Two Team
