As the festive season comes and goes here are 5 more tips to help with a more sustainable festive season.

1) If you have food leftovers store them in sealed boxes instead of cling wrap and foil. Not only will this help keep them fresher for longer but it will also cut down on single use items and stop the fridge from smelling like all your Christmas meals mixed together.

2) Do a craft/creation day. Get the children involved and make some cute gifts and decorations for friends and family.

3) If you are making reindeer food use edible sprinkles or hole punched leaves instead of glitter. Glitter is plastic so it will not break down it will just wash through the grass.

4) Remeber to flatten boxes to put in the recycling bins as this will create more space.

5) Most importantly have fun and enjoy the time with your family and friends.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2021!

Miss Laura

The children have been very excited as they've completed several Christmas craft items this month.Anything that involves paint or glue captures their attention. These experiences have been great for developing their fine motor and cognitive skills. We hope you enjoy looking through their learning journals from this year, it is amazing to see how much the children have grown throughout the year even our friends who have only been with us for a few short weeks. We have thoroughly enjoyed nurturing and encouraging each child and giving them the confidence to try new things and become more independent.

We now know which rooms we will be in next year and both Sandra and I were thrilled to find out we will be together with all our N2 children in the Toddler room along with Ms Manita, Ms Olivia and Ms Priya. All of the children have had transition plays which went really well.

And just like that the year is over. Welcome to December newsletter.

We have had a great month in Toddlers, getting into the holiday and Christmas spirit, making special gifts for home, engaging in lots of sensory and christmas themed play.

With the weather heating up this month we have also been having some water play which is always a crowd favorite. Most of our children also got to transition to their new rooms for next year and I was so proud of how they all handled the change. The routine is very similar to the Toddlers routine which helps make the transition easier. Most of our children chose to stay in their new rooms for the entire day when they did transition.

As you would all know Miss Tomomi is moving up with the children to Senior Toddler 2 and Miss Luna is moving up with the children to Senior Toddler 1, which will be great for the children to have a familiar face and someone they already have a relationship with.

Miss Salma won't be back next year as she will be on maternity leave, we wish her all the luck and happiness with her new addition to her family.

Myself, Miss Claudia and Miss Raman will be moving to the Nursery which is an exciting change. We also say a big sad Goodbye to Hudson C as him and his family move up to Yeppoon for their next adventure, we wish you all happiness!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every family for giving me the opportunity to care for and educate your precious children. They have all come so far in a year and I couldn't be prouder of them all.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year. See you all in 2021.

Miss Tracy, Miss Tomomi, Miss Luna, Miss Claudia, Miss Salma and Miss Raman

Dear Families

Welcome to our Newsletter

We have been so busy working on different things in our room and using our transitions to build and plan for learning.

Over the next few weeks, the room will look very quiet and some children may be in other rooms, we will still program and plan as we usually do However, we do allow for teacher initiated or "Planned" play which gives educators the opportunity build on anything they have observed.

You may have noticed the display in our entry way which will show the room allocations for next year check this if you are unsure of what room your child is in for 2021.

Our focus outcomes over the next month will connect to learning Outcome 4

Learning Outcome 4: Children Are Confident And Involved Learners

4.1 Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity.

This is evident when children:

  • express wonder and interest in their environments.
  • are curious and enthusiastic participants in their learning.
  • use play to investigate, imagine and explore ideas.
  • follow and extend their own interests with enthusiasm, energy and concentration.
  • initiate and contribute to play experiences emerging from their own ideas.
  • participate in a variety of rich and meaningful inquiry-based experiences.
  • persevere and experience the satisfaction of achievement.
  • persist even when they find a task difficult

Investigation and problem solving will be the main focus and opportunities to explore and use imaginative skills will be a key component of the program.

We have welcomed a new friend to our class in August, Welcome to Carter and his family we look forward to spend time getting to know you.

A few reminders for the issue of the newsletter

  • hats are required each day for play, if you would like to leave a hat you definitely can it can be left in our drink's troller or in your child's locker
  • sheets for rest time and any items you bring to care each day need to be labelled, this prevents confusion and allows us to be able to locate all items that belong to each child
  • your child has a locker with their name attached, please locate your child's locker when dropping them of and place their bag in their allocated square

Lastly Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all our families, it has been a hard year and we have gotten through it and now we look to next year.

Thanks

Miss Charmaine, Miss Laura, Miss Tabi, Miss Alida, Miss Mariela and Miss Swetha.

Wow almost Christmas... And the Senior Toddler 2's room is excited!
Wunya to the families in the Senior Toddlers 2 room!

This month we have embraced many amazing experiences full of Christmas craft and celebrations.

I've seen so much growth within our room this year, from counting, learning the alphabet, letter recognition, shapes, emotion recognition and most importantly the confidence and friendships that have formed.
We also have been excited to extend upon many things that are primarily based on our friends individual interests.

Everyday the children have continued to learn about the different sounds that each letter makes with phonics. Following phonics, our friends have also been practicing their shapes, numbers and emotion recognition.

As it's heating up can we please ask that you check your child has plenty of spare clothes incase of water play or any accidents and that your child always has a water bottle clearly labeled.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our families for a marvellous year this year. May you all have a safe and very Merry Christmas.

Miss Mel, Miss Olivia, Miss Priya, Miss Alida and Miss Dani

Well, we made it to the end of 2020! What a year.

Reflecting back, it was a hard year for everyone, but we were proud that we could maintain a beautiful rhythm here within our service and rooms, with minimal disruptions.

This month we focused on fun and festivities, with lots of dancing and movement, transitions and Christmas craft, as well as learning "Aussie Jingle Bells", which is a carol that is much more suited to our environment and seasons.

To finish off the year the children rehashed the letter of the first name, colours, shapes and numbers and we started our transitions between rooms!

A big thank you to the children and families of Pre Kindergarten 1 for a crazy and lovely 2020, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, have a happy and safe New Year

Love from

Miss Amy, Miss Chrystel, Miss Manita and Miss Dishu, Miss Ailish and Miss Dani

Wunya Families,

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas and new year is about two weeks to go.

During December, we did many painting and craft activities to celebrate the Christmas such as the fork Christmas tree painting, the Santa beard Christmas count down and the snow flakes twine thread.

As the transition practice started in December, our room was filled by new faces from some other rooms and some of our children had a play day to their future room too!

For some families that may not aware about the room changes or unsure where your child will be, please find the information in the reception area or please discuss this with Sarah.

Meanwhile, our beloved Pre-Kindergarten 2 room will be transformed to Kindergarten 2 room as we have massive number of children in kindy age group next year. Our future room will provide the Kindergarten curriculum and have one qualified Kindergarten teacher.

Miss Sarah and Miss Maria will be remain in this room with additional Kindergarten teacher, Mister Reggie. We will be a group of three who will nurture your child and endeavour to support all families and children needs.

Please be informed that we will have some adjustment in routines and room guidelines to suit the new curriculum.

Best of luck for our children who are going to be in their new place. Please do not hesitate to stop by and have a chat with us although your child is no more in our room. All family are always welcome in our room and part of the Kidz Magic big family!

Thank you for all the beautiful memories that we have been created during the year 2020. We wish all of our family a wonderful Merry Christmas and happy holiday!

With love and care,

Miss Sarah, Miss Maria, Miss Alida, Miss Ailish, Miss Dani and Miss Dishu

Wunya Kindergarten Families,

This has been a month of learning and relaxation for us here in the kindergarten room. As some of you may know I have been filling Miss Cathy's maternity leave role, however I am now excited to share that I (Mr Reggie) will be staying on the team at Kidz Magic permanently, however I will be moving next door to support Miss. Sarah and Miss. Maria. This was announced on the fifth of December at the staff Christmas party.

We are currently on our holiday program however at the beginning of December we explored the letters Xx and Yy. We also put up the classroom Xmas tree and explored what we all do at home, bringing a little of the magic of Xmas to the classroom. Later on this month we made Xmas trees out of Playdough.

This was an action-packed week with the children enjoying building Yurts and exploring what life was like for nomadic tribes who live in yurts, the children were not as keen on yak butter tea!

The following week we explored all the letters and broke them down into different days with the most popular day being Wednesday which was Pirate day leading a whole class of children to talk like pirates, build pirate ships and participate in the pirate Olympics.

We enjoyed spending last week looking at summer themes and Pokémon, which we undertook a Pokémon yoga session as well as creating our own out of LEGO.

We farewelled friends this month. Goodbye and Goodluck Paige, Ali, Mivaan, Koby, and all our other friends who left us, we will miss you and wish you all the best in prep.

Mister Regi, Miss Tahlia, Miss Ailish and Miss Dani
