Welcome to 2023

The new year is in full swing and we are all adjusting to the changes in rooms and routines.

Transitions can be difficult for both children and families, we encourage you to reach out to our child's educators with any questions or concerns so that they can best support you as we navigate though this early period.

As the new year begins we also have a lot of new families starting, on behalf of the management team and all the amazing educators here at Kidz Magic we would like to welcome you to our community and invite you to share your ideas, stories and any questions you have us.

Attached below is some further information on transitions and separation anxiety

Here at Kidz Magic we encourage children to explore and make meaning of their world through play. This play often includes loose parts.

Loose Parts open the door to children's self-directed creative and imaginative play. When these resources are used with appropriate time, space and the support of an interested parent or carer the benefits for a child's learning, growth and development is clear.

Loose parts play provides children of all ages and stages with an enabling environment full of interesting objects that support curiosity, creativity, imagination and invention. We are always looking to add to our loose parts play through recycled and donated resources. If you have any items you think we could utilise please feel free to bring them in.

Welcome to January in Nursery 1.

To start off the New Year we just wanted to welcome all our new babies and their families to Nursery1, all our babies are slowly starting to settle into their new environment, building those secure attachments with their educators where they feel safe, secure, and supported.

It has been a great pleasure getting to know each individual child they have been communicating in their own little way if it is facial expressions, babbling sounds, laughter, and smiles.

Our day starts of a small group session in the morning where we look at our color of the week and listen to a story that we also extend over a week's period. We try and make sure all our babies are awake for our small group time as we do think it's very important for their development.

We believe identify colors and use color as language tool to describe things is one of the essential activity. Story time is one of the important daily activity to develop children's imagination skills, listening and language development.

We are focusing on sensory activities for couple of months. We use different materials like textures and colors. Sensory play can helps stimulate child senses like touch, smell, vision, taste, moment and hearing.

We would like to thank all our parents for their support over the month of January and if you have any suggestions on your child's learning or interest and feel you can contribute please let us know. So we can achieve the best outcomes for our children.

Please could I ask you lovely parents to email Hayley a family photo, our family wall has currently got two family photos and we would like to expand and create a family wall for our children.

Thank you for all your support in January and looking forward to another busy month in February.

Miss Alida & Miss Aparna.

Welcome to Pre-Kindergarten's first newsletter for 2023.

We spent time during December welcoming transitioning children from the Senior Toddler 1 and 2 rooms, showing the children the routine and where everything is within our space. January brought more children back from holidays and we began our year.

We have been guiding on toileting, learning our new friends' routines and friendship dynamics. We have been rehashing what learning has occurred last year and adding in some challenges in the form of drawing shapes, we have been building vocabulary with books, discussions and opinions.

We have been exploring the world around us by using our eyes and observing weather patterns and using new words like "strong" and "calm" to describe wind.

The children have even drawn a parallel between the chicken in the book, "Hattie and the Fox" and our black chicken, Hen Solo.

The Pre-Kindergarten team are very much excited for what the year will bring.

Miss Amy, Miss Tabi, Miss Mariela, Miss Baby Liv and Miss Dishu.

 Kindy 1 Newsletter January 2023

This month we had our school
holiday program running before Term
1 commenced. We enjoyed a range of
arts and crafts, based on the new
years celebrations, and free choice
creations using textures, colour,
paint and cutting skills. We were also
busy making our own booklets,
threading bracelets, necklaces and
more!!!
Now we have finished our first official
week in Kindergarten 1 we are
beginning to work on establishing
routines, getting to know our new
friends and educators. We have
established a visual schedule of our
daily routine. Including learning mat
times, music and movement, outdoor
play, table time activities and eating
times.
Our learning focus this term will be to
look at our inquiry based theme "All
about me".
We will explore what is special about
each of us, embrace our differences
and get to know our families
including extend families, cultural
backgrounds, and where we belong
in our community.
We have celebrated Luna New Year,
learning about the year of the rabbit.
Miss Laura explored the Chinese
zodiac signs with the children, which
they really enjoyed. We had
discussions and watched information
videos about all the animals of the
zodiac and how to make lucky red
envelopes. The children then
decorated their own envelopes. We
have also started to make our own
self portraits. The children have used
their creative skills to represent
themselves using the easel to paint a
picture of themselves.
Our phonics focus so far has been
beginning to learn to recognise and
produce the initial sound of the first
letters of our name. There have been
great numeracy learning
opportunities with some songs and
game we are learning involving
counting, number recognition and
following auditory patterns using our
musical instruments.
Physical aspects of the program have
been keeping us active and busy
outside. We had fun with hula
hooping, balance beams and
imaginative play in the cubby house
and mud/sand kitchen areas. It's been
a wonderful learning
opportunity to have the children work
together, helping, turn taking,
problem solving together to negotiate
storylines for pretend play using lots
of natural resources and engage in
symbolic play.
We look forward to getting to know the
children more as the term progresses.
From the Kindergarten 1 Team
Miss Erin, Miss Laura, Miss Shwetha,
Miss Narelle and Miss Ailish

Wunya families and welcome to Kindy 2. We are super excited for a wonderful year together. Please regularly check your emails or XAP for communication from me. Our Kindy program core hours are 9am to 3pm so it is preferable for the children to be dropped off before 9 and picked up after 3. This ensures they receive as much exposure to the Kindy Program as possible. A reminder to please encourage your child to find and place their name tag on their locker each morning. Please pack a named hat each day and please apply sunscreen to your child in arrival.

Thank you

Miss Sarah, Miss Claudia, Miss Dani and Miss Sophie
