Serving Size

Young children need between 2½ to 4½ serves of vegetables per day (depending on age) but what is a serve size?

1 serve of vegetables is:

  • ½ cup cooked green or orange vegetables (such as broccoli, spinach, carrots or pumpkin)
  • 1 cup green leafy or raw salad vegetables
  • ½ cup sweet corn
  • ½ medium potato or other starchy vegetable
  • 1 medium tomato
  • ½ cup dried or canned beans, peas or lentils

We offer morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, we try very hard to add as much vegetables and fruit into the children's diet during the day as we know nutrition is foundation to a healthy life!
