Healthy Times Ahead

Every year, new strains of the influenza virus circulate. Children under five years of age are at risk of serious illness and complication from the flu. You can help slow the spread of the flu virus by following everyday prevention steps.

  1. Encouraging children to be kept at home with flu-like symptoms
  2. Encouraging children to wash hands effectively by regularly using liquid soap and running water or an alcohol-based hand rub.
  3. Teaching children to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, throw the tissue in the bin and wash their hands.
  4. Regularly cleaning commonly touched items, surfaces and resources.

All children aged from six months to under five years are eligible for free influenza vaccinations, to ensure every child under five can be better protected this winter.
