Building relationships with local school

We have received an invitation for our Centre Manager and Educational Leader to attend Mansfield State School to meet the Prep teacher and Deputy Principal. We are very pleased to be a part of a valuable recognition of the early years program we provide at Piptree. We see this as an important time for adults to build respectful and trusting relationships just as we ask our children to do. On the 23rd August we extend our involvement in the 'South Cluster' meeting of early years educators, principles, deputy principles, master teachers, HOCs and coaches to converse on Connecting Curriculums and age-appropriate pedagogies. The focus will be on gaining a deeper understanding of the curriculum between Early Childhood Education and Care and Schools. At this meeting there will also be a conversation on exploring age-appropriate pedagogies in the early years and the power pedagogy has in the way we deliver curriculum. We strive to always be a hub for building better and stronger relationships in our community and be a voice of support for our families.

Miss Alexandra leaving Piptree MTG

I sent out an email to Poppies families on Monday afternoon to advise Miss Alexandra is leaving Piptree Early Learning Mt Gravatt East. I sincerely apologise to Poppies parents who did not receive this email as there was a technical mishap and it went to some and not to others. I am reposting here in this newsletter.. Due to urgent family circumstances Miss Alexandra has made the difficult decision to leave her Early Childhood Teacher position in the Poppies room as her family needs to be her priority right now. All of our staff have said a sad farewell and we pass on to her all families wishes for her and her family's wellness in the future. Miss Alexandra would like you all to know that she will miss all the poppies and she thanks each child for the enjoyable time she has spent with them.

Rest assured we will endeavor to keep our Senior educators with the Poppies until a replacement ECT can be found. As always, thank you for your kindness. Please discuss with me any concerns you may have as someone on this great team is sure to be able to help.

Miss Melisa and Miss Julie will attend the Mansfield State School visit and the South Cluster meeting for 'Strong Start Strong Learner, Ready Schools Ready Learner' to ensure we are strong participants in our Kindergarten program and transition to school relationship.

Children's Book Week

Established in 1945, the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) is a not-for-profit, volunteer run organisation which aims to engage the community with literature for young Australians. The CBCA presents annual awards to books of literary merit, for outstanding contribution to Australian children's literature.

To show our support Piptree Early Learning MTG is inviting all children attending throughout the week of August 21 – 25 to Dress Up in their favourite book characters. And, to share this support further we ask for a gold coin donation to go towards the Wall of Hands. The Wall of Hands Appeal is The Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation's (ALNF) annual fundraising and awareness campaign, which encourages Australians to raise their hands to help close the Indigenous literacy gap so that all children have the opportunity to write their own bright futures. We definitely enjoyed this fundraising experience last year and am very excited for same time this year. Please help us make a BIG donation to the Wall of Hands appeal.

Do you enjoy sewing?

We are looking for a parent or grandparent to sew together two ends of our Identity cloth made with our visiting Indigenous Elder Aunty Janice. We would like to be able to hang our cloth at the top of the internal stairs upon entrance to our building. Please, we would love to show our respect for our first people as we play learn and grow alongside their meaningful and purposeful culture of this land.

Quality Improvement Plan in action..

We have created a quality improvement plan for this Centre that will also function as a journal. It is located in the foyer, on the community news bench. You are welcome to peruse these journals and add your suggestions and recommendations for improvements. There is an index at the front of each journal that describes areas of focus for an Early Childhood Education and Care Service to strive towards meeting or exceeding standards. If you wish to be a part of the success of this Centre we would love to have you on board. Please write your ideas on any paper and drop into the ideas/suggestions box alongside the journals.
