May 2018

As the season is getting cooler, we still embrace the families with extended warm welcome to the new families at our service.

Families are you ready for new Child Care subsidy (CCS)?

On 2nd of July 2018 the Australian Government will introduce new child care fee assistance package CCS, which will replace the existing Child Care Benefit. If you do not have MyGov account already, please create Centrelink online account. You will need family and your child CRN. Once you complete the process online the families should have received their CCS Assessment letter.

Kindly asking you all to bring the copy of the letter to the office.

Community involvement

This month we  were extremely busy with community involvement. On Wednesday, 9.5.2018 a librarian from Brisbane City Council Library at Sunnybank Hills visited the kindergarten children sharing information about role of library for the community. We listened to two stories, sang some songs and rhymes and we all had an awesome time. At the end of session each child received a goodie bag with gifts and information for the parents.

Also, on Wednesday, 23.5.2018 our kindergarten participated in educational Australian Dental Care program. Two dental nurses explained to all of us the importance of health and hygiene of our teeth. Our children actively participated in role play and answering question during the session. We particularly enjoyed the story "Sugar Doug ", which explained in detail the importance of healthy food and what happens to our teeth if we eat too much of unhealthy food.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful people at Big W Calamvale Central, who kindly donated a toy for each child to be added to their gift bags.

We will continue to extend on community involvement by asking our families to contribute towards our program by coming in and spending time with our children. We would like to thank two of our parents who have already booked the time to do some baking with the children next week.

Our children from Sprouts 1+2, Buds and Blossom 1 rooms have been working enthusiastically to create a new garden.

On 12.6.2018 we will have a Story telling session featuring songs, a book reading, drawing activity and craft conducted by award winning author, Aleesah Darlson and the talented illustrator, Emma Middleton. Families are invited to this performance at 2 pm . "The Dream Bird" book can be purchased and signed on the day. Our centre will receive 25% of all books sold on the day. Your Book Order form can be collected from the office.

National Reconciliation Week

Next week is National Reconciliation week and our educators will plan the supportive activities, which brings awareness to Indigenous cultures in our country. Our children will be learning through dream time stories and music and movement experiences. Have a look at the program displayed in your child's room. Keep an eye on the exhibition of art work in the rooms, too.

Keep smiling, Natasa
