Apologies for the lateness of this newsletter! With winter truly coming to a close, we've been very busy here!
Fortunately, with this temperatures, we're ready to bring on the summer! It is time to start checking on the sunscreen supply and wear hats, and always remembering to slip, slop, slap, before coming to the centre.
So with October on it's way, what have we been up to?
Well, we are proud to announce that we celebrated an Early Childhood Educators Day on Wednesday, 4th of September. Families and their children were personally thanking our educators for contribution to the well being and development of their children. Our children recognised their hard work with little arms around the educators neck and little voice saying thank you Miss ... So much love was in the air the first week of the month.
Second week we recognised Talk Like a Pirate Day and introduced children to childhood cancer awareness month. The dress up day was a high light.
In the third week we focused on important roles of books in early childhood development. Books are an adventures tools to learn about own and other cultures, but also provide the opportunities to develop the own opinion. Also, children's literature helps children develop emotional intelligence. Stories have the power to promote emotional and moral development and encourages them to think deeper about their own feelings. Children had so much fun exploring and engaging with literature.
Just letting you know, that I will be on a short annual leave from 2nd to 8th of October, but if you require any urgent assistance please do not hesitate to ask Yu mei or Nikki.
Children's safety first
With warmer months approaching us, I would like to take a moment to discuss the serious issue of appropriate car usage. According to the Kidsafe Victoria, every single year in Australia 5000 children are rescued after being left unattended in cars. It will soon be October, and the weather is only going to be getting warmer as the summer months roll around. Just 10 minutes in only 24 degree weather is enough for the inside of your car to reach 38 degrees Celsius. After 30 minutes, 50 degrees. Children and pets can't pant fast enough to lose heat. Core temperatures start to rise, and once that core body temperature reaches 42 degrees and higher, enzymes in your cells start degenerating and dying. Shutting down organs. It is a very serious issue, that caused the death of 10 babies and toddlers last year. Please do the right thing, by turning off your car and taking your child with you, even if it's for the 10 minutes while you're picking up your child from our centre. On the topic of appropriate car usage, it is illegal for you to turn right when exiting our centre. You would be crossing the double lines, so please consider, is it worth coming home 5 minutes earlier but in the process risking your life, and the lives of your children?
