News from Kylie

 Hello to everyone

I would first like to welcome all of the new families to the centre. I hope that you are all settling in well & I look forward to getting to know you over the next few weeks. Well I don't know about all of you but I am over winter and the cold and flu season.Hopefully we will start to see some warmer weather soon and these nasty bugs will hopefully go away.September already, did you know it is 97 more sleeps until Christmas?Where has the year gone? I would like to thank everyone for their support in the Family Portrait fundraiser.

With the end of the year drawing closer, it is time to start thinking about 2019. I know it seems like we get organised way too early, but if there's one thing I've learnt in my years of being a director - there is never enough time to get everything done! We start confirming our enrolments for a new year in October, so I am just giving you all a heads up to start thinking about what you will be needing in 2019. If your child is due to move up into a new room in 2019, you will not have to re-enroll. All children progress through each room as they turn the next age.

Did you know that we operate a funded 4-year-old kindergarten program? Our Poppies room (4-5) is run by Brie, our bachelor qualified kindergarten teacher.

Did you know that we offer yoga on a Wednesday afternoon apart of our Kindergarten program?

Did you know we offer the ELLA Program in the kindergarten room?    The aim of the ELLA Program is for children to have early experience in another language and culture this year children are learning Italian!

Some Housekeeping!

Just a little reminder to please remember to close the pool gates securely behind you when you leave or enter the centre. Also the pool fencing in the foyer please remember not to bang hard as there are sleeping babies on the other side of the wall and it wakes them.

Also the speed limit in our car park is 5kms please ensure that we are following this as we have little children in the car park and they can come from anywhere.

I must ask that all parents please ensure their contact details are correct and updated and that all fees are kept up to date.

 Hi All,

We would like to welcome all new families and children to the room. Everyone is settling in really well as we work on building trusting relationships. So far in the first few months we have focused on exploring our sensory skills in activities such as; goop, rice, pasta (cooked and uncooked), play dough and painting, ribbons and much more. The children are really enjoying these activities as it gives them experience with positive feelings, textures and enjoyment.

As the time is flying by and babies are growing up, we would like to say goodbye to Oliver and Chloe have recently moved up to the Sprout room to make some new friends, as they begin their journey and new environment.

Lately we have had a few children reach new milestones, whether it be crawling, walking, sitting up or communicating. We have been encouraging this by assisting and supporting children to build their self-confidence and self-esteem to achieve their balance and stability in physical movement.

Just a little reminder to all please make sure you are completing your child's "Daily Communication Sheets" upon arrival each morning. These are located on the top shelf with the children's locker. This is very important to us as it helps us understand your child's needs for the day.

Happy Birthday to Onyx and this month to Rishi who have just turned one.

Until next time,

Miss Lucy and Miss Suki

 Hi all,

Wow I cant believe how fast this year is going! September already! Over the past couple of months we have fare welled Trey and Isaac from sprouts class, and welcomed in Oliver, Chloe and Phoenix. Welcome to sprouts class everyone! We look forward to getting to know all of your blossoming personalities.

As most of us have had a big explosion of language, during our daily group time each day we have really been focusing on language development by learning colours, names of transport vehicles, naming animals & their sounds, counting 1-10 and beginning singing the alphabet together. Basically building on our cognitive development through language. We have done lots of building with blocks while counting each block, home corner dress up & role play using dolls and a lot of song and dance time together. Showing that we can transfer and adapt what we have learnt.

Transferring our new knowledge of transport vehicles are, we had police car & Ambulance truck visits! We got to meet two police officers and an ambulance person before we climbed through the vehicle! what fun!

Exploring ideas using imagination, creativity and play, we spent 2 weeks celebrating fathers day through various art and craft activities. keep an eye out for our 'punny' fathers day crafts up throughout the classroom.

As we begin to finish up for the year over the next couple of months, we will be getting all the art folders together and ready for to hand out at the Christmas party. If you haven't already, please remember to bring in the money for your child's art folder!

Until next time,

Teagan & Havane.

Miss Sarah and Miss Jamie-lee would like to welcome our new friend Coda to our room, it has been a great pleasure getting to know you so far and we look forward to watching you grow in the coming months.

We had a very special visit form the police and an ambulance. We got to explore their cars and listen to some cool information.

The past month the Buds children have continued to work on their colour recognition skills. By using coloured plates and bean bags to throw onto the plate that is a matching colour.

At each group time Miss Jamie-lee or Miss Sarah do colour flash cards.

The children have also been working on their shape recognition at each group time we have worked with the children to gain their knowledge of shapes. We have then furthered that knowledge with matching shape painting.

Over the next coming months, we will be focusing on number, colours and shapes still. We will do more on the science scale e.g. learning about our body parts and doing collage on that, using natural resources to paint, collage and use to paint.

The bud's children have been working on their self-help skills. Helping make their own beds and put their sheets in their bags. Some of them have been more independent in putting their own shoes on before going outside in the afternoon.

The children are building on the formed friendships with the other children in the room, by working together to achieve a goal of building using the blocks or making a pretend road with the blocks.

Towards the end of the month we have been working on the Father's Day presents with the children. We hope all our Dad's and Grandad's had a wonderful day over the weekend!

Hi everyone! I can't believe how fast has this year gone!

Firstly I would just like to say how sad it was to see Miss Kirstin leave us here at Piptree, but all of our best wishes are with her and hoping for a speedy recovery and hope that she will be back to join us some time soon! I would also like to say what an honour it is to have stepped up in Miss Kirstin's place as Lead Educator in the Blossoms room to continue on with her plans and goals for our children and to ensure they have the best experience of learning possible!

Before Miss Kirstin had left us, our focus in the Blossoms room was Letter Recognition, so we have been continuing on with letter activities to broaden the children's knowledge of literacy and means of communication. One of of main focuses at the moment has also been to concentrate on Colour, Shape and Number Recognition to help the children become familiar with these certain aspects of learning and to develop mathematical concepts as well as learning to categorise, assemble, construct and use creativity and imagination. Our future goal by the end of the year is for the Blossoms children to know up to 10 shapes, to be able to identify numbers 1 to 10 and recognise all colours, and so far they have been doing extremely well and have progressed immensely over the past couple of months! 😊

It is sad that we had to farewell one of our friends, Finn, as he starts on a new adventure at a new kindy! Good Luck Finn! And we would also like to welcome some new friends, Amelia, Nicholas and Ally to the Blossoms room, who have settled in exceedingly well and have formed so many new friendships in such a short time! We are all so happy to see that your experience here at Piptree has been a great one!

Our special events throughout the past couple of months have been:

Safety Week, which on the 31st of July we had a visit from 2 Police Officers and on the 1st of August we had a visit from Ambulance Medics. The children were able to explore inside the Police car and Ambulance, and the Officers and Medics discussed with the children all about saftey and what number to call if they were ever injured or in trouble.

The week of the 17th to 24th of August we had Book Week! All the children dressed up as their favourite storybook characters and brought a story for show and share to read to the class at group time. On the 22nd of August, we also had a Reptile show, where the children learnt all about reptiles and how to be safe if they were ever to see them in the wild. The children were able to touch snakes, lizards, and a crocodile, and they were even able to hold the Shingleback Skink and the baby Crocodile!

We would also like to say Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there, hoping that you all have a safe and fantastic day! 😊

It has been an extremely great year and I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of getting to know each and every child, learning their interests and dreams and building caring and trusting relationships with them all. It is an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to watch and help the children learn, grow and blossom and prepare them for the big outside world and help them to achieve learning outcomes and milestones essential to their everyday life and schooling education!

Looking forward to the oncoming weeks!

Until Next Time!

Miss Tiahn Taylor 😊

 KINDERGATERN

The Kindergarten Program is about preparing your child for Prep, here at Piptree we are offering your children lots of opportunities to play, learn and grow.

Poppies celebrated Book Week in style this year as we celebrated a love of books with dressing up and reading some of your children's favourite books! Children who are read to more frequently at an early age enter school with larger vocabularies and more advanced comprehension skills (Mol & Bus 2011). Even though children are surrounded by language in Kindergarten, the vocabulary we use is often repetitive. Reading to children exposes them to vocabulary on different topics.

Over the month of August Poppies have also been exploring, and extending an interest of animals around the world and food chains! Learning about which animals are prey and which ones are predators. This topic really showed us the children's love for science, space and dinosuars! We had a Reptile Workshop at the service. This workshop offered us a positive, engaging and educational experience with some of Australia's reptiles up close and personal.

Learning environment- CURRENT INTEREST

Poppies children have been practising their cutting, developing the fine motor skills required for manipulation of scissors. Children have been exploring cutting in art corner creating some wonderful collages!

Poppies children have also been extending their interest in time and how our days and nights are structured around times and routines. Children have been working together to discover the 'My Day' puzzle.

We have also really been working hard on our abilities to connect and relate with one another through fun group games that encourage turn taking and listening to each other.

ELLA NEWS

The aim of the ELLA Program is for children to have early experience in another language and culture this year children are learning Italian

App 5: The Polyglots at the Circus deals with naming parts of the body. It should inspire children, staff and families to recognise and practise words for parts of the body.

App 6: The Polyglots at the Park play space mimics an outdoor Australian park or playground. Children can also watch a video of a popular Italian children's game, 'Lupo mangiafrutta' (fruit-eating wolf).

OCTOBER • 8th: App 7 release date

SHOW & TELL

Show and Tell has numerous benefits for young children. These early language experiences help to build effective communication and listening skills that are essential for a young child's learning. Poppies children really love their show and tell time. Miss Kerrie and I do however strongly encourage the children to bring in a book or an item of significance to show the class.

Our suggestions include; a photo, a favourite book, a holiday souvenir, or something special they have made at home.

We appreciate your support with helping your child to choose an item for show and share.

During Second term we have seen many great and exciting items for show and tell! Keep up the great work 😊 Miss Kerrie and I are looking forward to see what new and exciting items you find this term!
