We are continuing to welcome new children to our Centre and over the next couple of weeks have many more children starting. We are looking forward to getting to know you all.

It has been quite distressing of late to see so many children being driven to and from the centre who are not properly restrained.I have  some information which I hope you will find of assistance at this website.

Also please avoid leaving your other children unattended in the car whilst dropping off at the centre.

Please ensure all belongings are clearly named.

National Quality Framework

What the NQF means for you?The National Quality Framework (NQF) for Early Childhood Education and Care helps ensure your child is given the best possible start in life. The NQF has new quality standards to improve education and care across long day care, family day care, preschools, kindergartens and outside school hours care services.

Benefits for families

• greater individual care and attention for children

• better support for children's learning and development

• educators with increased skills and qualifications

• improved educator to child ratios in most services

• a new rating system of education and care services.

A learning framework assists nominated supervisors, educators and co-ordinators to think more deeply about the service's approach to learning, development and care and the way in which this guides everyday practice and development of the program. The frameworks are designed to inspire conversations, improve communication and provide a common language about young children's learning among children themselves, with their families and the broader community, with educators and with other professionals.

Sustainability

One of our goals for the year is to concentrate on Sustainability. The children will be learning about recycling (water, paper), our environment, such as plants, caring for plants, and most importantly, how we can do our part for the environment. Did you know that the process of recycling paper instead of making it from new materials generates 74% less air pollution and uses 50% less water.

Here at Piptree we do lots of arts and craft activities which means we use a lot of paper! I am asking families, if you do have scrap paper or cardboard at home, please bring them into the centre, so that we can recycle them here for the children's art and craft experiences!

We have also had a big delivery of a sustainability pack.  We have a water tank we can now reuse the water for our gardens, a worm farm and compost bin.  We are super excited.

We also had a visit from the The Magical Garden Creatures Show which taught the children about the environment and sustainability in a fun , active way.

Firstly, I would like to welcome Miss Havane to the Pip room as my co-educator and our new families with babies Archer, Mia and Isla. They are settling very well into their new environment. Unfortunately, we say goodbye to Pearl who is leaving us and moving to a different area. We wish Pearl and the rest of her family all the best.

In this past month, the Pips room have been engaging in group time. The educators have supported and facilitated small group activities. We focused on the development of skills such as fine motor, gross motor, physical, sensory, non-verbal, eye-hand co-ordination and social skills. These are developed through music, art, role play, social interaction and any physical growth.

Most Pip children are achieving their gross motor skills by walking independently, running and sitting at the table whilst eating. The educators assist and encourage them to build their own confidence and self-esteem as well as practice for transition/routine to the next room.

We have placed an "All About Me" form in your Parent Pocket. We would greatly appreciate your feedback as this well assist me with programming for your child. We would like to thank those that have already returned their forms.

Just a little reminder, PLEASE make sure all your child's belongings are named. This helps us all make sure items don't go missing. Please remember all creams and medication are chemist labelled so we can apply it to your child's needs.

If there is anything you would like to know regarding to your child please do not hesitate to see us in the Pips room.

We are always available.

Thank you,

Miss Lucy and Miss Havane.

Hello

I would like to welcome Arlo to our class room we look forward to getting to know you and watching you grow each time you come to the centre.

Over the month of June the children were very focused on cars and transport, so I had programmed lots of fun art activities for the children to explore new ways of using cars. Soon the children then moved onto exploring their sensory capabilities, so for the last few weeks we have been doing lots of sensory/ fine motor activities. These activities are building the children's manipulation of equipment skills by using art.

We have also had some fun community experiences these past two months. A couple of weeks ago we had Belinda and Gecko come to the centre and do some cool music experiences with the children, using guitars, drums, sing bowls and a didgeridoo, this was a fun experience for the children to learn and play with different instruments. We also had a Magical Garden lady come from KarmaKids Grow; she talked to the children about what can go in a garden, bugs and what we need to help the garden grow.

Until next time

Welcome again to the Buds Room:

First of all Miss Kirstin and Miss Jamie-Lee would like to welcome Auroa, Melody, Eli and Byron and their families to our room.

Once again, it's been a busy few month of learning in the Buds room.

Our Children have embraced an interest in setting up their learning environments and play experiences using resources provided by Miss Kirstin and Jamie-lee.

Children are exploring their environment through new lenses, experimenting with ideas and thoughts that are the foundation of our weekly curriculum, giving children a sense of belonging and agency.

Children's play is changing as our Buds children are getting older and friendships are growing with lots more interaction among peers during play, developing their social, emotional and literacy skills as they are collaborating and learning from each other and with each other.

Children are recognising achievement, and celebrated these by praising each other, which is fantastic to observe and be part of.

Children's voices have had us on a literacy journey of the Very Hungry Caterpillar, which is displayed in the room. Children have worked hard on this display with so many ideas visual and each child's unique interpretation of the story embraced.

This journey has also given us opportunities to extend children interests in numeracy-looking at matching and, sorting, patterns and sequence, using numbers, colours and shapes.

We also had input in our new menu with Miss Kylie whilst collaborating about the food and fruit the hungry caterpillar ate in the story adding our opinion about our favourite foods at the centre and at home.

There was also lots of discussion about healthy eating and looking after our bodies to stay healthy.

Housekeeping:

Just reminder to all parents that you must bring wet-one,nappies,pull ups for your children that are still toilet training in our room.

Thank You until next time…

Miss Kirstin and Miss Jamie Lee

Hi everyone! I cant believe we're half way through the year already! Time fly s when you're having fun!

Firstly, Id like to welcome Pania and Zedd to our class, who have all transitioned up throughout the past month from the Buds class. We also farewelled Lilah, Chase and Harley who all transitioned up to the poppies class during this time. We've all been busy getting to know one another during this time, with lots of one-on-one and group song and dance time together. During our group times we've incorporated show and share again. Please insure your children aren't bringing just toys in for show and share, and they are bringing something of significance to them so they can express their home life with their peers. With all the new children just moved up, we've also began doing the first letter of our names again. Helping us with our pre-writing skills, and preparing us for pre-prep with Miss Brie next year!

Another thing we've also been focusing on is learning outcome 5 – children are effective communicators. I'm finding throughout the day, a lot of children have begun to forget their words. Show and share helping us to do this too!

We will continue to explore our learning outcome 5 over the next couple months.

Please make sure that you have brought a drink bottle for your children. If it is easier, you can leave the water bottle at kindy during the week and take it home on your child's last day for the week. This goes for hats too!

Thanks,

Teagan

ROOM NEWS- EVENTS IMPORTANT DATES and INFO

The Magical Garden Creatures Show visited on 28th June! It was a fun filled day of gardening. Excitingly we have two more follow up gardening workshops in July to look forward to!

Coming up in August we have an extremely busy month with birthday celebrations! If your child has a birthday coming up that you would like us to celebrate here at Piptree please come and see Miss Tiahn or myself so we can arrange something ?

SHOW and SHARE

A quick update on show and share expectations. Children have been encouraged to bring in an item of significance to show the class. Some inspirations might be photos, a special or favourite book, an item from a holiday, something they have made at home. We also ask at this stage if your child can bring one item a week, we have a green show and share box to store all items.

Show and share is an opportunity for children to express themselves. Sharing something important to them that they know a lot about allows them to become an "expert" and share with their peers their knowledge. We are also developing children into effective communicators, promoting the use of language to explain and discuss people, places and objects.

We appreciate your support with helping your child to choose an item for show and share.

Learning environment- CURRENT INTEREST what you would see in room right now

Poppies have been very busy over the last month exploring engaging topics like 'Does it sink or float?' and experimenting with colour mixing. Children have extended their knowledge and developed new skills they will use next year in prep.

Poppies have been learning about shapes, numbers and letters. We have been practising and developing our writing skills, learning to write our name for prep next year.

Poppies children are exploring diversity. Discovering the heritage, background, culture and traditions of Spain and New Zealand. We will be celebrating NAIDOC week next week also!

ELLA NEWS

The aim of the ELLA Program is for children to have early experience in another language and culture to encourage language learning in the later years.

ELLA also has a Family App, which you can download onto a mobile or tablet device for free both from the App Store for Apple devices and from Google Play for Android. Use it to try one of the learning experiences at home and to find out more about ELLA.

What's new with The Polyglots? App 3: The polyglots at the Birthday Party includes the 'Make a cake' learning experience, which can also be found on the ELLA Family App. It has been great to see our Poppies using measuring terms of handfuls, cups, scoops, and numbers in both English and Spanish as they select ingredients to make a cake.

SCHOOL READINESS

The Kindergarten Program is about preparing your child for Prep, here at Piptree we are offering your children lots of opportunities to play, learn and grow.

Children are encouraged to use language to communicate ideas, feelings and needs. Make friends and cooperate with other children. We encourage our Poppies to be more independent and confident in their abilities. Educators assist children in developing self-discipline. We support children to creatively express their ideas and feelings through art, dance and dramatic play. The Kindergarten program is also about developing early reading, writing and numeracy skills.

As we now move into the second half of the year our Poppies will be working extra hard on preparing themselves for the transition to prep next year. Our Kindy daily routine starts at 9am with our morning mat meeting. As a parent, you play a vital role in your child's education. There are many things you can do to make your child's transition to prep more enjoyable also.

You can help your child prepare by:

  • improving their independence
  • having a daily routine, that includes arriving at Kindy on time
  • getting involved with your child's learning
  • doing activities at home.

You can encourage them to be independent by helping them practice :

  • packing and carrying their own bag to and from Kindy
  • Separating at Kindy
  • putting on their shoes
  • eating and drinking without help
  • going to the toilet on their own
  • using tissues to blow their nose
  • recognising their belongings.
